Hey

I'm looking for advice really. After collecting a rather large Tau and Blood Angel army I'm after something a little different and I was thinking bikes. At first I was drew to White Scars and Ravenwing but actually I would prefer another Xenos army.

The tricky part is that I'm at a total loss apart from taking jetbikes, I was thinking that I should be taking multiple units of shining spears and then maybe fire prisms. Although I'm not a WAAC player I would like to build a force that has a fairies competitve edge.

So any input would be brilliant.

Cheers

Well aparently according to everyone you cannot do a jetbike army... despite this im currently trying to make a Saim-hann army as well my current list is something like this: 2 farseers on jetbikes with spears, 4 warlocks 4x6 jet bikes 2x6 shining spears 2 vypers and a fire prism..

In short: I would defiantly have a farseer on jet bike for the shining spears and warlocks on jet bikes for each of the windriders, from there its down to what you want. but im trying to aim for an all skimmer/flyer list...

Good Luck tho.

Funny enough that's what I was looking at. Maybe adding the Crimson Hunter in for a bit of AA.

I will probably only take 1 Farseer and take a Autarch, with 4 warlocks and 1 Farseer I think that's more than enough warp charges being thrown around.

A seer council with 6 units of 3 bikes would fit this,

Farseer jetbike/shard-155

Farseer bike-115

Warlocks 9 with bikes-450

Baron-105
warriors for baron tax-45

Jetbikes 3x6 -51x6=306

For a total of 726pts and lots of speed and troops with your classic seer council.

Thank you for the idea but I want to focus on a solely Eldar force, I don't really like the idea of allies and my gaming group don't really take them either

I dont get how people dont want to run allies.
But whatever, back to your list.

Then thats fine, dont take baron. just go for shouding on your warlocks, jink with the council and you have the 2+ anyways.

Or you could opt for the double force org and the 4 farseer bomb with a mantle seer.

I suppose it's from when I first started to play 40k and you didn't really have rules for allies so I never took them so even now I have an aversion to them. I guess some dogs can't learn new tricks.

Baron is hardly worth taking allies for. Also the allies rules for 40k are really stupid, whoever thought of them should be kicked in the balls.

to jackblg, nobody said a jetbike army wouldnt work. We said your jetbike army had too many crappy jetbikes. Still does. Guardian jetbikers are GREAT, they are AMAZING, but you dont build an army around a core of them, they are not strong enough, and dont do enough on their own to make an army. They are the complimentary piece to a greater plan. You needed to allocate more of your jetbike points on stronger jetbikes, like a seer council or even shining spears.

My only gripe here is that the Crimson Hunter doesn't have the requisite Autarch for control of entry. Meaning that you may not get it at the right time. For the same points, you can get 3 Vypers with dual Shuriken Cannons. You have a lot to deal with heavy armor, these guys will be tossing out 18 S6 pseudo-rending shots a turn and moving 12" with that. They're fast enough to get rear armor on flyers to compensate for the loss of the Hunter too.

Additionally, I feel like Warp Spiders fit the Saim-Hann mold pretty well so if Vypers aren't the answer a squad of Spiders might fit well also.

Just a thought! I like the list overall.

Cheers!

what about some hornets from forgeworld?
they fit the theme, ruthlessly efficient pointwise.
i cant remember the last time i played at an event our tournament where forgeworld wasnt allowed.

furthermore...

35 bucks! i always wanted to run a few squadrons of them but they were too pricey. now its high on my to-buy list

Got to be honest I know nothing about hornets, looks like it's armed with twin linked bright lances?

Twin-linked anything. After the fashion of most Eldar vehicles, they start with Shuriken cannon (x2) and you can exchange each of them for a better weapon. They also have a lot of other tricks, including the ability to take Pulse lasers for cheap. So each Hornet can put out 4 S8 AP2 shots up to 48" away. They're pretty damn amazing.

Your list is good, in a meta where allies aren't used and no super competitive combos exist, it'll serve you well. Although I'd probably take 8 Shining Spears with a H&R Exarch armed eith a Star Lance and Monster Hunter (their TL bladestorming shuriken catapults will shred even Wraithknights and Riptides with that power) over 5 Warlocks. With Invisibility, they're ridiculously deadly.

Hornets are awesome 8 s 8 ap 2 shots With holos for 190 pts.

Anyways, I would use a unit of Locks With Spears like maybe 4 or 5. S9 shots and Powers are allways nice.

I never get my prisms to work though. You could get 16 s 8 shots for only 100 extra Points in hornets. I rarly meet AV 14 that actually threaten me, and 2 Fire Prisms wont realy get an AV 14 list Down either. The Hornets strips more hull Points a round and do a generally better job.

fire prism needs a 3 to glance av14, pulse lasers require a 6. For every bright lance, you would need 4 pulse lasers.

Ok. how bout this.

8 pulse lasers from 2 hornets strips .88 hull points off a land raider not in cover.

A fire prism will knock off .4, which is less than half as good as the hornets.

In 5+ cover, guess what, hornets still strip double the amount of the fire prsim.

Are you really trying to argue that fire prisms are better than hornets?

Well against everything else hornets are still better, and argueably more surviveable, and can move flat out and fire snap shots. So they are decenet anti air to.

hornets are great, but they are also what av11? 2hp? I cant recall exactly. The prism also has other options in blast and large blast that can take out groups of terminators or marines, a bright lance actually has a chance to blow up av14 where as you HAVE to strip 4 hp off of the landraider I might be able to kill it in 1 shot, you dont take that into your calculations while trying to sound like a smart ass over .4 HP a turn calculations over a blanket statement I made that simply suggested bright lances werent as bad as you were making them out to be.

Im not sure what crawled up your ass but if you think ill sit down and take your gak you have another thing coming
