Im starting a new army for 7th and have decided on tyranids, im preparing my list for a 1650 tournie and would like some advice on what im taking.

Hive tyrant, wings, 2 x .L devourer brainleech worms
Hive tyrant, wings, 2 x .L devourer brainleech worms, hive commander
Zoanthrope
Zoanthrope
Zoanthrope
5 x Genestealers, broodlord
20 hormogaunts, toxin sacs
Hive crone
Hive crone
Exocrine
Exocrine
2 x biovore

So i think its a well balanced list that can deal with most things, anyone got any thoughts on the list, anything you like with the codex and 7th and just anything you find works well for you when using nids.

Not bad! But... it is kinda all over the place...How "Uber compy" do you want to be? For Tourney play I can't recommend Stealers. A Broodlord is a viable upgrade, but they are so pricey...and they are so fragile. It's just hard to see them being useful. Are Formations an option? If they are, drop one Exocrene, add a Biovore, and a Warrior Brood for "Living Artillery" Toxic Hormies can be a "thing" but you'll get more milage out of plain ole Termagants.

Personally I consider Thorax Hives a "must take" item for Tyrants these days. Electro-bugs are just too useful to pass up.

My personal "style" runs to lots of troops. (I usually run 5+ Broods of Troops) But that is a style thing. Why do you have Hive Commander? the only valid use is Outflanking the Hormies...? And they need Synapse. Otherwise they stand for a Turn (can't shoot, can't charge) Then run the risk of eating themselves if they fail IB. I recommend you look at getting a Brood of Venothropes, they are very useful.

I normally run two Broods of Zoeys, and one Brood of Venos. Many others run two Venos and one Zoey. I like the extra Psychic power.

Yes dataslates are an option so i will look into that, i don't feel my list is all over the place its actually quite balanced with something to take on everything. I added the stealers just for the broodlord really, i do agree they are too expensive.......the hive commander was for the hormagaunts, i don't have to worry about getting synapse on them, the idea was to outflank the stealers with them broodlord casts dominion or try for master of ambush warlord trait to infiltrate some zoeyz for the hormogaunts, so i didn't feel it was much of a problem.
also the venomthrope i find is not that useful in 7th with area terrain gone its a lot harder to get the nice cover save with most of your force, so i do not see the point of venomthropes anymore only if your using a horde style lost tbh.

Yeah, I thought the Hormies were the recepients, but that is +20 points for a unit that costs 160. That is a lot of eggs in one basket. I had not considered using the Broodlord for Synapse...but you can't depend on both units arriving on the same flank. I'd trim the Hormies to x15 say, and bank the 40 points...toss in the cost of the Stealers+Broodlord, and you can get something nice... Add in the 20 for Hive commander, and you could add a couple of Troops units, if one is Warriors, that also adds Synapse.

MoA is a awesome Warlord trait but it is only a 1/3 chance you'll get it, so you should plan on Not getting it. That way it's a total gift when it comes around.

In any case...Good luck! And good hunting!

Late entry: If you do take "Living Artillery" you'll want a Veno to babysit the Formation. The best counter to Living Artilley is counter battery. So set up in terrain (like a ruin) and keep the veno within 6" of each part of the formation.
