Take your ticket to Armageddon!
Sign up for the Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon Beta
Epsom, UK – July 18, 2014.
Today we are overjoyed to share with you that Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon, one of the most anticipated turn-based strategy games of the year, is getting ready for release!
This detailed multiplatform wargame is now ready to enter the PC beta phase and we invite players to help us test it! By signing up for the beta, players will have a chance to be selected to be one of the lucky few, who will be able experience Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon before release and help us with the final touches, ensuring a smooth release later this year.
Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon is set during the Second War for Armageddon. In this hex-based, turn-based game developed by Flashback Games and The Lordz Games Studio, players will lead the Imperial forces of the Armageddon Steel Legion and Space Marines from a variety of Chapters against the Ork invasion through over 30 scenarios, on the hostile terrain of the planet and its gigantic Hive Cities. The game features a complex plot, involving known characters from the Warhammer 40,000 universe and while advancing through the campaign, the player will have the ability to carryover his core force from scenario to scenario.
Players can sign up for the beta by clicking here:

Edit: I mispoke, please see later posts.
Researching the developer, this reeks of more shovelware with 40k paint on it. It looks very much like their 2009 release of "Field of Glory".
Games Workshop needs to better cater who and where they license out their IP as this is watering it down.

Yes, base all your research from the company trying to sell you the product.
Wiki the company(ies), find previous work, find reviews of precious work. No reviews is a bad sign (mediocre) and bad reviews are also telling. Compare screens from this game and their other work. Its quite obvious. Hex based game, 2000 era graphics. It received little coverage, most tepid to negative.
Like most of the recent 40k cash grabs. Much like the forthcoming MMO, former A2M, now behavior interactive, makers of zero MMOs and proud producers of hits like Naughty Bear and Wet.
Really wish GW would step up their filter.

RiotHouseLP - Video review on Youtube
Historia Games - 7.0 / 10 - "Allied Corps is a pleasant standalone, avoiding the player to give yourself a headache, without fall in simplicity. However, there are some minor drawbacks that affect the realism".
Out of Eight - Video review on Youtube
Gamers Hall (German) - 88 % - "Allied Corps represents the logical continuation of the series and complements the existing title to the perspective of the Western Allies. At the same time it is proved that the familiar gameplay is still addictive and still do excellently entertained. Revolutionary changes are not expected, but they are probably also missed by anyone".
Der Stratege - 92% - "Allied Corps is a lot of fun to play, as it rewards careful planing and thinking. It is like a modern version of chess additionally it has a nice historical touch and is more complex than chess".
Digitally Downloaded - "Allied Corps wears its heritage well. Modern pretenders offer more visceral battles, but the core Panzer General-style gameplay still provides a worthwhile experience".
7idgaming - 92% - "Panzer Corps" can be recommended to anyone. Whether casual or recreational general. Whether young or old. The "Grand Campaign MegaPack" represents a very excellent compilation.
Gamers Hall. de - 84% - The Mega Pack includes all published campaigns and the latest patch. The fair price and the endless addition of emissions is a strong buy recommendation for amateur strategists

Game looks more like FoG with terrible graphics. Given the fast turnaround, I can almost bet its a reskin version.
That's a misunderstanding on my part, as they alsobmade Unity of Command which is decent, not great. However, there's more turds in that punchbowl than good.

My theory is that GW deliberately picks small-time developers because (a) they're probably a lot cheaper to hire, and (b) they're probably a lot easier to bully, if needed. Imagine if Games Workshop lent the 40K rights to a mega-publisher like EA Games. EA would probably take very good care of it- they'd find a good developer who they know would make a good game using the licence, and they'd spend the money to market it, etc. But they'd also ravage GW's coffers, and they wouldn't give a gak about Tom Kirby or anyone else' opinion on how the game should be made. " GW: E-excuse me, Mr. EA Games. We like the gameplay vids you've sent us, but... t-there are no female Space Mari- EA: Shut up. GW: ._. EA: Market research says gamers want female models. GW: B-but the zygotes- EA: Don't care. We'll write a mission explaining why there's female Space Marines. GW: ._. EA: And sell it as $10 day-one DLC. Muhahahahahaa"

I dont care for graphics. The best games I have ever played and still play have kinda bad graphics apparently. I find all graphics in all games pretty bad anyway haha. 'Good' graphics is usually a sign to not buy without lots of research in my opinion.
Whats important for me is the detail in how this game works. Is it a simple HP game where you kill the HP or are there bonuses based on range, terrain etc. Moral?
I dont know much about the game but I am interested.

I apologize for being harsh. The game looks super rough for being "beta" which is the modern equivalent of a demo. A bit jaded with the surprise glut of 40k games that are hot street trash.

That is all we ask, judge the game when it is done and out, but be sure we take our work and wargaming seriously we are passionate about our products and service.
It is an honour to work with Games Workshop and Warhammer 40,000 is one of the greatest fantasy lores in the world.
We will do it justice and give it all we have got.

Its not an insult to your company, but several recent releases have been bad, buggy or both. One reviewed by TotalBiscuit is a literal reskin (which gave Dark Angels Storm Ravens which they do my have access to, hilarious). Even Space Hulk was extremely buggy on release.
Glad to see Steam offering and here's to you bucking the trend.

There's a huge huge market for hex map turn-based wargames. Many from the 90's are still insanely popular - look at Panzer General (1994) and it's sequels. Slitherine publishes lots of them and are fairly well known and recognized as being one of the leaders in publishing those games.
Some people love FPS, so there's Fire Warrior; some people like 3rd Person Shooters, there's Space Marine; some people like twitch RTS, there's Dawn of War; some people like turn based wargames, there's Chaos Gate and Final Liberation and now Armageddon.

I'm skeptical, but I signed up. It could be good, could be crap - at least if I'm in the beta my feedback might mean something.
Also the registration process on your site is atrocious. I signed up on the Slitherine site, kept getting prompted to merge accounts with other sites, and also had a difficult time telling if I was logged in (or staying logged in) . The first time through the beta signup it told me I was signed in as (blank), so I went through it a second time, where it finally showed me logged in as my login name. Hopefully those two duplicate applications can be resolved.

Reminds me of Final Liberation indeed. Looks nice, actually. I like the art.
I also love how it's decently Epic 40k-like with modernized units like the Elysian vehicles and such.
I'm interested, but probably not for beta-testing. I hope the engine and such end up being great if only for the modding potential for other factions. I also hope the AI is competent.

I too have signed up for the beta and been following this since it was first announced. I have several Matrix games, and overall they are very good. I also have Panzer Corp, which is the spiritual (and pretty much exact) successor to Panzer General. Panzer Corp is the closest thing that this is based on and I beleive the same engine was the starting point. That said, LODZ has said that they modified the engine quite a bit for this title.
I too hope for a new Final Liberation, which is one of the two greatest games of Warhammer 40K on the computer (the other being Chaos Gate.) I don't think we are quite going to get that based on Panzer Corp, but I think this will be similar and should play really well. Sounds like they are putting a lot of time into making this very 40K is tone too.
I agree that there have been more crappy 40K games than good ones. I enjoyed Dawn of War but I am just not fast enough in my old age. (Played Dark Crusade last night on Easy and can barely eek out wins after an hour. Sigh)
Anyway, I am very hopeful for this to be a fun game. Someday I do hope for a new Final Liberation and Chaos Gate however.
Thanks,
Duncan

Definitely signed up for the beta. I have high hopes - an editor being released with it is a huge plus in my book.
Any word on when the beta will begin?
