What's the most dice you've seen rolled in one phase? I've seen some fairly crazy amounts on Youtube. What's your insane dice roll story?

I didn't choose the Astartes life, the Astartes life chose me.

Mine actually came in a game of Battletech...

Custom Clan mech with 3 LBX-20's (Cluster munitions of course).

All 3 hit for a total of 56 hit locations...

So I rolled 56 pairs of dice for the hit locations.

Although I could only manage 15 pairs at a time... didn't have enough different type of dice pairs.

Burnawagon with 3 big meks with burnas, Warboss with Kombiskorcha and 15 burnas got a perfect cluster shot on two units of termagants massed up around it.

Something like 220 odd hits i think, and almost the same number of wounds Good times.

First Rank Fire, Second Rank Fire Rapid Fire lasgun shots from a 60 conscript blob.

Burnas got that beat above, but these 180 shots don't rely perfect circumstances, other than the blob not getting broken and run down as soon as they show their faces.

Kirasu: Have we fallen so far that we are excited that GW is giving us the opportunity to spend 58$ for JUST the rules? Surprised it's not "Dataslate: Assault Phase"

Somewhere there's a video of a guy running an Ogre Kingdoms gnoblar force with Sharp Stuff. (2x shots, hundreds of gnoblars) Literal jug of dice shaken and rolled.

Not to brag but once I saw a game of infinity where 7 dice where rolled in one go.

Well, my friend did.

He *said* he did.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Not hard. HMG in a link firing at a single model in LOS in another link. Though I think that's the most you'd ever roll at the same time.

IIRC our group record is 88 , which was using .. damonettes ( and a character ?) from the previous demon codex.

We've had a few 70- 72 odd shots here and there from guard and the like.

Reminds me of the time in Deadzone when I managed to get a Plague Stage 2 to roll 7 Fight dice. Apparently if there'd been a friendlymodel in the same square it would have been 8, but I don't believe such fanciful tales myself...

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics.

90 X 3 with tyranid mass units on the charge. Rolling so many dice got a bit silly after a while, so we just agreed the unit was dead and took it off.

Clumsy mechanics when hundreds of dice were being thrown multiple times.

When i ran my IG, a Blob of 30+ guard with Lasguns in rapid fire range, first rank, second rank = over 90 dice!

Wouldn't be so bad if i didn't run a few of them as ran foot guard!

And people wondered why i always got out a side table at the club pre-game.....

In one phase or in one single roll?

Single roll, almost certainly my big unit of Witches with Brewhag. 60 attacks from the unit with ASF rerolls.

Single phase would be that, plus subsequent wound rolls plus MP rerolls, plus the attacks and wounds of the Brewhag, plus Executioners with Brewhag and Tullaris (44 attacks) with wounds and MP rerolls, plus the attacks and wounds of the characters, and whatever support charges were in place that round. Could easily have exceeded 200 rolls that phase.

I take that back. There was a 9000 point game where I was running 30 shades, 90 Darkshards, and 30 Dark Riders with Repeater Crossbows. That's over four hundred dice in the shooting phase... before including the two chariots and various characters with bows, or the two bolt throwers...

CHAOS! PANIC! DISORDER!
My job here is done.

One of my units took fifty hits once... all S7/8.

That's not too bad, if you consider they were made by one model in hand to hand combat...

Spoiler:
5th ed. Khorne Lord with Hydra Sword: 10 attacks, each hit then split into D6 hits. Add the D6+2 hits of the scythed chariot. My opponent was on a lucky day, but on average, he would have scored something like 30 S7/8 hits (Potion of Strength for extra lulz).
And then, it's the Juggernauts' turn.

If you ever wondered why this edition was nicknamed "Herohammer"...

Most dice a marine army can drop comes from 1 of 2 units.

A. 6 cent devs firing off 30 grav cannon shots and 36 Hurricane bolter shots in the shooting phase.

B. 10 man Honor guard squad with banner, 2 techmarines and 2 chapter masters attatched. Comes out to 14 chapter master swings, 8 servo arms, and 50 power weapon attacks.

16 ironguts with 2 characters getting the ogre charge so, 6 d3 impacts, ~54 regular attacks. All after the 70 man block of high elf spearmen hit first.

Well over 1500 dice without saving throws

I believe in X-Wing now you can get a situation where one ship can roll 12 attack dice in a game where 4 used to be a damn decent attack roll.
