It looks like the 7th edition rulebook has a section called Waaagh! Grukk under the Time of Ending section. That and Sanctus Reach- Evil Sun Rising seem like your best sources if you can get ahold of them. If you're looking for free info, here's the Lexicanum page:

There's also a lot about him in the new Ork codex. You don't have to dig through old material, fortunately, since he's a new character introduced in this edition.

I like how his art is just old art that they have photoshopped.

Here's the most important bit:

Tragically, at least as far as the Orks under his command were concerned, Grukk died in an 'accident' involving experimental Ork technology, probably explosive in nature. A series of smaller 'accidents' also killed a number of larger nobz, leaving Big Mek Mogrok in charge of the Red Waaagh! It splintered soon afterwards, but Mogrok remains in control of the largest portion.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

This was later proven false in the Stormclaw supplement as when his nobz went to retrieve his claw he was recovered alive underneath the wreckage

Perhaps not, but since GW seems to subsist off sadness and pain, I can't rule it out.

That has got to be the second most durable work in history.

Also the black library's Sanctus Reach books have some information on him, including one detailing his fight with the Obsidion Glaives chapter master.

Worth noting that while I really like Guy Haley and his work on the orks, his Warboss Grukk contradicts almost everything else:

He is Grukk Face-Eater, so named for the massive pneumatic jawplate that lets him rip off and devour the faces of his enemies. He falls into the chemical river and is bleached white like the other orks. He doesn't have a powerklaw with a buzzsaw, but does have a suit of Mega-armor.

It's disappointing that Haley is so wrong/incorrect/off-base on this. I don't know if he was working with early studio material, which got changed, or if he wrote the early stuff and then the studio shifted gears. I like his (very well-informed and nicely retro) take on the orks, so I was really surprised to see him so divergent on Grukk.

That bit was from "The Red Waagh!" campaign book first. Stormclaw should not have been a surprise.
