Here is the quote from the blue scribes' rule "Scrolls of Sorcery"
At the start of each friendly Psychic Phase, choose a Psychic Discipline from Warhammer 40,000: The Rules and roll a D6 -- this turn the Blue Scribes automatically manifests that power without the need for a psychic test (they cannot swap for the Primaris Power). This power is treated as having been manifested by the minimum amount of Warp charge points required to manifest the power, fot the purpose of Deny the Witch rolls. Note that the Blue Scribes are not Psykers for the purposes of any special rules that target Psykers.

Okay... What if i roll Dameonology and get the power "Possession"
Possession is a conjuration with a range of 6" that creates one of the following new units (your choice): 1 Bloodthirster, 1 Lord of Change, 1 Great Unclean One or 1 Keeper of Secrets. Rules for these units can be found in Codex: Chaos Daemons. If this power is successfully manifested the Psyker is immediately removed as a casualty (if the Psyker was part of a unit with the Bortherhood of Psykers/Sorcerers special rule, remove the entire unit as casualties). If when using this power, the Psyker fails his Psychic test, he automatically suffers Perils of the Warp.

So the power is manifested. I get a new Bloodthirster, LoC, GUO, KoS... but then do i remove the Blue scribes?
"If this power is successfully manifested the Psyker is immediately removed as a casualty"
okay, well
"Note that the Blue Scribes are not Psykers for the purposes of any special rules that target Psykers"

So the Blue Scribes are not the Psyker and therefore not removed as a casualty.
Hmm

Anyone agree with me on this?
If so, i might just start taking the blue scribes more often. 1/2 of the time you get a new unit. 1/6 of the time you get +1 invuln.
and a new Bloodthirster every now and again

I would say they are still removed. The power does not target the Psyker (which is what Blue Scribes are immune to), just removes them from play.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

It removes the Psyker from play. Why would it remove the Blue Scribes?

It's the 'target' part. Removing the model is consequence of the power, rather than it being 'targeted'. I'd play it that the Blue Scribe is removed as per the text of the power.

The power being used is not a special rule that targets Psykers.

Yeah, I could see this argument holding water. It is still ambiguous even with out the part of the blue scribes rule becase the possession power is referring to the psyker to be removed. And the blue scribes is not a psyker regardless if he had that rule or not.

Then again, thinking about it, the blue scribes cannot manifest any blessing that "targets the psyker"
These are: Iron Arm, Warp Speed, Foreboding, Perfect Timing, Precognition, Scriers Gaze, Gate of Infinity, Hammerhand, Cursed Earth, Fiery Form, Levitation, Telekine Dome, and Shrouding

All of these psychic powers are blessings that "target the Psyker" and the blue scribes is not a Psyker "for the purposes of any special rules that targets Psykers"

Personally, I think the rule is more for things like Mindstrike Missiles, Crucible of Malediction, etc..

That's probably what it was intended for, but RAW...

Then again I'm the guy that argued so fervently that you could shoot two witchfires if you had two pistols that they had to put it into the new FAQ hahaha

Then, is a Psychic Power a special rule ?

Is the crucible of malediction a special rule?
No. But i do see your point. Psychic powers are not specifically special rules. Does not change the fact that the blue scribes is not a psyker even if he did not have the Scrolls of Sorcery

Wargear can grant Special Rules to the model, which are then evoked when the model 'uses' the wargear.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.
