OK, so Grimnar gets a new model in a chariot. Almost cool, except for a few things. Firstly, and probably my most important point, Grimnar already had a cool model (which has since disappeared from GW website). I liked his previous design, possibly even a little more than the new one.

Also, what about all the other models that didn't get redesigned but were crying out for it way more, ones that are still in metal? Like Ragnar Blackmane or even Azrael back when Dark Angels were released.

What's everyone else think?

I like the Azreal sculpt and happen to prefer metal models. Dont hate on Azreal.

It was a good run.

Umm Ragnar is in resin now, so I'm not sure where that came from. If you take away the sled, I think the Logan model looks quite good.

It's a resin version of the model designed almost twenty years ago...

I guess the Ragnar model could do with a more dynamic pose.

People use ragnar? I always thought he was kind of worthless, even more so in the new dex.

Most of the older, important characters could do with an update. Those flat poses are starting to look like RT era stuff these days.

While some people like the fact GW are only doing plastic kits these days and avoiding resin/metal, unfortunately it means variety is going to suffer a bit and armies like SW who have several characters that could be redone won't be redone because GW can't afford to release a whole bunch of new character models in plastic.

It sucks, but it's the downside to the "only do plastic" thing that GW are going with.

Azrael is gorgeous! I want to have his babies!

Where is the wolf Priest though. They still don't have a generic Wolf Priest after all this time. They should have included a wolf skull helmet and crozius in the space wolf pack sprues.

That would have made far too much sense.

At least we have the Gamesday Wolf Priest, he's cool.

If you take the new Logan model off the sleigh, it actually looks great.

I acknowledge that, minus all the wolf pelts which seem to be everywhere!

The new Logan model is absolutely awesome, but I will never have him as I absolutely will not buy this whole set at a ludicrous price just to get the model it includes.

At least the Necron Ark is damn cool-looking.

If I am getting Logan for my Space Wolves, I will be looking to Ebay for the pewter one.

They always did most of the '2nd edition' Space Wolf miniatures- including Ragnar, Ulrik and Njal - were released along with a White Dwarf list about 9 months before 2nd edition.

Why don't you look on eBay/bits sites for the plastic one without the chariot?

The amount of wolf stuff on the Wolf Lord Logan Grimnar Space Wolf wolf Chariot model is just... wolfy.

Wish they would have redone Ragnar... you know, the poster boy for Space Wolves since 3rd edition?

2nd edition. Ragnar was the only Wolf Lord in 2nd edition to have a model. Grimnar had rules but didn't get a model until 3rd. Ragnar actually cost 1pt more than Logan did back then (Ragnar was 141pts, Logan 140pts).

I have to say his pose is disappointing as he just holds an axe in front of him which to me looks bland with all the other models that do that with swords, axes and bolt pistols, but saying that he is a really really detailed model now compared to his old one which is a well done job. In all if you can have him with a different pose and possibly without the chariot he will look like an amazing model to have in a space wolves army.
