Hello Dakka,
So i love Catachans and their models, and was looking into starting a Catachan force! I have a few questions i was hoping my fellow dakkaians(is that a word?) could answer.
1) is the current 165$ battleforce GW is selling a decent deal for what it offers?
2) Marbo - is there a official model for him? I know he was taken out, but i need a Marbo regardless lol.
3) is there playstyle any different from Cadians? Or just model wise different?
Thanks in advance!
Urban

They are the exact same army as Cadians, they just look different. The battle force is a great deal. I still use every model from mine 3+ years on.

I can add one random fact, the snipers are still metal and are very nice to paint on.
There good poses too with lots of detail.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all. |

Oh this BF has been around awhile? I thought it was a newer one due to the price of it.

The battleforce looks good to me. You'll use all of the infantry in pretty much any list, and while Sentinels aren't so good as to be mandatory they're usually a solid unit.
As for a different playstyle, fluffwise the Catachans do operate differently than Cadians, but you probably don't want to limit yourself that way. Catachan signature units include flamers on infantry (good), Hellhounds (good), camo vets (maybe), Scout Sentinels with flamers (bad), and CC-focused command squads (terrible). Yhey don't tend to use Russes, Chimeras, or flyers all that much, which would handicap you tremendously. All Guard vehicles come with Catachan pilot options, so you should be fine taking whatever units fit the list you want to play and not worrying about whether they're fluffy.

Snipers are my favorite unit lol, i have 15 Wolf Scout snipers in my SW army right now, tho according to the codex they wont see much use here soon.

So i have made a trade and acquired a ton of catachan stuff! CHYEAAAAAAAA!
So from the looks of it i have the following, just wanna know if this is a good start.
1 Baneblade
1 Commissar
1 Catachan Captain w/ Power Fist
8 Heavy weapon teams (2 missle, 2 heavy bolter, 2 lascannon)
1 Chimera
1 Basilisk
1 Catachan command squad
roughly 20-30 Infantry (possibly more, they are all soaking in some simple green!)
And a relative TON of bits, which is quite nice, probably enough to throw togeather another 10 infantry.
I am sure there is possibly another 1-2 Captains soaking in the simple green, i was so excited i threw em in without fully goin through them. Im guessing my next step would be some Leman's? How are sniper's for AM, cause im in love with the models.

One of the real character units from the old Catachan codex was the special weapons squads, so I'd take some of those. Kit them with flamers, meltas, or sniper rifles. At 2 points snipers are fantastic in special weapons or veteran squads. They're long range and great against high toughness models. I take special weapons squads with snipers and sit them on an objective all game long.
