I've recently found about these imperial assasins . Im planning to buy one but i know much about them ( tactics, what they are good for , etc ) I play with space marines and i have trouble with fighting necrons ( their HQs just dont go down !) so i thought that maybe one of these guys would really help me . Any suggestions? Also any advice about fighting necrons would be appreciated !

You will need to get GK or Inquisitor allies first if you want to use them. assassins cannot be fielded in a pure SM force.

A Vindicare will be a good tool for HQ-killing, he can't be 'Lo,S'ed and has a bullet for every occasion.
Also, welcome to Dakka!

There are no assassins in the Inquisition codex, only Grey Knights.
They are all pretty over-costed for what they do, with the Vindicare being the only one that can come close. Lucky first turn shots to kill a Land Raider are fun, but people usually just look at him and he dies. The best way is to have a Thunderfire Cannon and use the tech marine to bolster the defense you'll put him in for a good cover save. Just watch for (admittedly a lot of) stuff that ignores cover.
The other are all melee oriented and will rarely get there as you cannot assault the turn you arrive from reserves or would need an expensive transport.

So if I wanted one I need a grey knight codex for a inquisitor and the chosen assassin?
Or does it get insane and need inquisition one too.
2 codex's for 2 units.
Least I already own a inquisitor :-)

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

At the moment, its all in the GK book, but rumours are the inq parts are being cut with the new book, and there's no mention so far of assassins staying or going. At this point, waiting a couple of weeks might be the best option.

Good advice, just idea of a elite sniper that can one shot tough HQ,s is tempting or punch through sheilds and force fields.

I just wanna second the point that the Vindicare is the only one really worth using. The Callidus and the Eversor both die way too easy, because your opponent will get a shooting phase before they can try for CC. The Culexus looks awesome (in an old model sort of a way), but he's too specialized an anti-psyker unit to be worth using regularly. The Vindicare has the best survivability (even if it's still a bit lacking) and the best array of tools for tackling a variety of missions.

Much as I love the Vindicare hes just too expensive for what he does. In fun games hes great though dont get me wrong. Hes just never performed consistently enough for me to warrant using him in a tournament type list.

I just play for fun, my templers + IG are not a torny level force in the slightest to be honest.
Just made them how I want, even if uses some weaker units or in fluffy choices :-)

Vindicare assassins are very cool and a lot of fun. Eversors are amazing-looking, but not quite as good.
As said before I'd wait to see what happens with the GK release. Assassins are the sort of thing you add on to an already-existing GK force or to supplement some GK allies, not something you'd base an army on.

Rumour is assassins are removed from grey knights codex so I'm hoping for a return of the assassin codex. It was always off assassins and grey knights was one codex. However I'm sure it has more to do with gw selling another $30 codex.

I know it's not really the same thing, but an Ordo Malleus Inquisitor equipped with a Hellrifle (36", S6, AP3, Heavy1, Rending) is basically an elite sniper. It won't be one-shotting many HQs, but he will be threatening a large number of them. Plus it's pretty cheap, 40odd points if you don't load up with extras.

GW has twice made an 'Assassin Codex' with only 4 units, I would not be shocked if there's one planned.
Though they would probably want to rerelease the 4 assassins in plastic.

There is a problem with that though, how would they fit in a Monstrous Creature or a flyer into that codex?
You know GW won't release that codex until they can.

maybe they will make a SH walker assassin...or an assassin that rides in a giant robot like a bjorn baby carrier...or maybe a vindicare riding on a hoverboard pulled by some drugged eversors.

That is cheap.
