So, I was under the impression that if you chose your detachment from the one in the space wolves codex you gained out flanking bonuses and reserve bonuses. But I also thought you lost the objective secured bonus granted to you by taking a combined arms detachment. Today I was reading the August edition of white dwarf. Most importantly the battle report between space wolves and tau-dar and I noticed something the wolves player had written... It says that by using a bound army and picking it from the wolves detachment he got all the cunning bonuses PLUS objective secured. Can anyone conform this is in fact the case? It's going to affect whether I take a flier or not. I've attached a picture for reference.

The folks at WD played it wrong. Objective Secured is only granted as a command benefit of some detachments. The SW detachment does not grant OS.

Unless, of course, they took a CAD (for OS) and a Wolves detachment, in which case different bits of the army get different bonuses.

No, they definitely only took the one detachment. And they seem to think they get both bonuses.

Technically you don't "lose" the bonus, you just never get it in the first place
They played it wrong, it's that simple.
It's one of the reasons I dislike their Battle Reports, I usually spot so many mistakes that it's almost frustrating

It is also possible that they were playing a previous revision of the new codex which might have granted it. That might explain why they make so many errors in the WD battle reports, they might not get the final copy of the dex before they have to publish the report.

Either way, I'm glad you have all confirmed what I thought. I thought I was missing something. I also thought it sounded a little OP to be honest.
