15 BC are the same cost as 10 GH + CCW + 2x melta. Adding the banner then makes the GH more expensive.

They're getting 50% more attacks, and ultimately doing more damage in close combat. WS3 is not such a huge downside in CC, since they are still usually hitting on 4+. And you have 50% more wounds to soak up damage. Grey Hunters are obviously the more flexible unit, but if the intent is to just get into close combat, and after killing a unit spend the rest of the game camping an objective, then Blood Claws have their merits.

So you don't get re-rolls for models watching the challenge.... but those other models can now strike blows if they'd otherwise be doing nothing

I do want some flexibility in the unit. So I'll probably still give the claws two Meltaguns. I suppose BS3 isn't too bad as they will be with a priest who could take divination. But they lack boltguns. Am I right in Reading that the claws get 60 attacks on the charge?

I'm at work and don't have my book, I was wondering if someone could do me a points comparison?

I'm not taking any detachment that makes me lose objective secured. I had 3 league games decided by the fact that I had a few obsec guys camping objectives and the enemy either didn't have obsec or all their troops were dead. I pod most of my stuff so out flanking isn't a big deal for me and a flyer coming in from the side is probably less efficient with the firing arc of that cannon.

I built the Storm Wolf, the transport capacity makes up with, i also rock mine with TL Meltas. Good kit, fun to paint!

10 GH = (10 base 10 for charging) 20 On the charge + CCW = 30 + Banner = 40

15 Blood Claws = 15 base + 30 for rage + 15 for CCW = 60

Hunters clock in at ~200 with the banner (spitballing because I don't know banner cost and my book's in the car). Claws are a CCW's worth of points less than a base Grey Hunter per (adhering to forum rules, yeah!). The units end up costing about the same, end of the day. I think the Hunters edge out on being a bit pricier.

I've come up with a solution. Take grey hunters and blood claws.... And take a Stormwolf AND a Stormfang
