Auspicious Aspiring Champion of Chaos

Meaning a collection or army (of imperials, or perhaps chaos if counting black crusades) spread over several allied FoC, as well as the idea of say a space marine FoC with units depicting squads from different chapters, or an IG force with platoons from different planets.
What do you all think about that? Would it look too much like a mishmash? Granted, i was planning for my forces to be based the same to aid continuity, but still.

I collect:
Grand alliance death (whole alliance)
Stormcast eternals
Slaves to Darkness - currently Nurgle but may expand to undivided.

Black Templars. Crusading across the galaxy since M32.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised. |

It definitely works, I play something a lot like this myself a lot of the time. In games of 1750 or greater, I'll usually have Marines from at least 2 Chapters (I just use Ultras CT for the lot, though), an Inquisitorial Detachment, and sometimes a Knight or LOTD squad as well.
There's something quite awesome about seeing a huge array of the Emperor's many legions arrayed for battle.

Granted, but i meant like have a squad of black templars, a squad of Sons of Guilliman, possibly some homebrew chapter squads, etc.

You might be better off doing the Macharian Crusade, or a similar sort of army, that is predominantly IG, supported by the other Adeptus of the Imperium.

Get some Templars (use someone elses rules though) and ally in some conscript/ penal legion allies to get the full rabid warrior-pilgrim experience.

A "Crusade army" used to be a thing, in 2nd edition. It basically meant a Space Marine army with multiple CHapters represented. Since the only difference between them was the colour of the paint, no spcial rules were required (you could also include Blood Angels and Dark angels using Codex: Ultramarines, too, as long as you didn't want to include any Death Company or special characters).
Now, you can do the same if all the Chapters use the same Chapter Tactics (easily done, given most of 'em are Ultramarines successors ). If you want more variety, just choose two or more Ally Detachments and make each one a different Chapter.

Needs templers, there the crusaders from the start of new age.
Could have mixed up marine chapters to represent a crusade say impirial fist devs + tac sqaud, some blood angel fast attack and such like its a combined task force

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all. |

Yup, used to see this a lot more back in 2nd and 3rd. If they're well-painted, a traditional crusade army in bright colors can look quite handsome. Bonus style points for taking into account each Chapter's specialization: Ultras as tacticals, Blood Angels as assaults, Imperial Fists as devs, etc.

This is pretty much what I run. Ultramarines being the core of the list and the commander, Blood Angels bring a land raider loaded with an Assault Squad, Dark Angels bring Deathwing, Fists bring Devastators and Sternguard. It looks cool on the table and functions well.
