Hi All!

I'm currently building up a modest ultrasmurf force and I fancy getting a Landraider. There are quite a few variations on the gw site and being fairly new to SM, I'm not sure which to get. If I'm honest, combat effectiveness is not my top priority, I'm more interested in which one has the most modelling options and bits. I had a look, and I really don't like the sponson that looks like a bunch of bolters stuck together (hurricane bolter?). So, in your opinion, which is the best land raider kit to get? I would even consider the chaos one if it's on the same basic frame, but comes with more extras.

I've read that some of them come with assault cannons too, which would be awesome to convert my rhino into a badass razorback!

So basically, Given that they all pretty much come for the same price, Which one do you think provides the most modelling possibilities in return for the money? Which gives you the most bits for buck?

Im confused by the GW website that adversities the Land Raider Crusader and Redeemer seperately, but the blub for both says they can make either versions. What's the difference??

Any help greatly appreciated!

I swear by the phobos land raider. (LC/HB) If it turns out it isn't working out you can always buy the land raider crusader/redeemer sprue separately.

Alternately if you're entirely disinterested in the phobos you can just pick up the redeemer/crusader kit.

To clarify a few things:

The LRC/LRR are both in the same kit, it's GW's new policy to list multi-kits multiple times. You get all the parts for either in each.

The Assault Cannon in the LRC/LRR kit replaces the Heavy Bolter, so you wouldn't be able to use it for a Razorback at the same time as running the LR.

Also, depending on budget, one of the Forge World LR might make a better display piece. Maybe the Achilles, which has a ton of extra armour plating and a massive Thunderfire Cannon sticking out the front:

The land raider phobos is the standard model armed with 2 twin linked lascannons and a twin lined heavy bolter.

If bits count is the primary consideration, the LR Crusader/Redeemer makes two different LR types for the price of a single kit. That being said, I've always been a fan of the original LR with twin-linked lascannons and it might fit an Ultramarines force a bit better as an all-arounder.
