Subject: New Player Needs Help Comprehending Rules regarding Initiative

I've only very recently started playing games of 40k with any regularity, and it is clear to me that I have no understanding of initiative steps in 40k. So, my guy gets... let's say 4 attacks, and the other guy gets 3. But, I'm fighting at I5 for the sake of argument, and the other guy is at I4, so I make my rolls, and then the other guy gets his, but what's the point? I am seriously missing something important regarding the rules of this game. Help.

I went to Hershey Park in central PA this year, and I have to say I was more than a little disappointed. I fully expected the entire theme park to be make entirely of chocolate, but no. Here in America, we have "building codes," and some other nonsense about chocolate melting if don't store it someplace kept below room temperature. |

The other guy does not get his if he is at a lower initiative step. All attacks at I5 would be rolled for first. If they hit and wound then enemies take armor saves. if a model is removed before his initiative step, he does not get to attack. So if you have I5 and kill models with I4 or less, they do not get to attack.

As above. If an I10 guy kills an I9 or less guy, that model doesnt get to fight at all.

Thank you. This could have been avoided by a brief glance at the BRB. Still not sure how I missed that paragraph. I think at one point I read the the rulebook cover-to cover. The lesson here is to look thing up before running to Dakka, I suppose. But thank you both again

Can I just mention how much I appreciate your politeness? Maybe I'm getting old and sentimental, but it's genuinely refreshing to see.
Glad you were able to find your answer. Happy gaming!
