I'm playing a 1500 pt game on Friday against a guy I play from time to time who is bringing his shiny new 1500 pt Wolf army.
I have skim read the new codex but not really taken too much in as I have no real interest in the Wolves.
I run IF tactic Marines, what should I expect or look out for?

The things we think will do well are:
Thunderwolf Cavalry, being cheaper than before and with cheaper upgrades. You'll want to do them fast, especially if there's a Wolf Lord in there too.
Dual specials in pods are still good, so usual things about spreading and denying drop zones apply.
If you use librarians, watch out for rune priests who are pretty good at shutting down powers.
Other than that, pretty much what you'd expect from any marine army.

Watch out for Ulrik. If he's in a GH or BC squad, either tarpit that unit or stay the hell away from it. If you let that unit get into combat with anything, it will decimate you. Preferred enemy, fear, feel no pain and monster hunter are nothing to mess around with.

Played today finally.
He brought 4 grey hunter tens in pods (each with twin melta), 6 thunder wolf cav with a lord and Bjorn in a pod.
Played that game (name escapes me) where you have a single objective in each deployment zone.
I tabled his army! I went first and my Sternguards dropped in right next to his wolves and managed to heavy flamer and poison round a couple of wounds off, the pod storm bolter then finished one off!
His pods all dropped in my deployment, 3 full tacs on his first turn, he took my razorback and typhoon to melta but the rest held firm, he also assaulted my sternies I took more wounds off the wolves in over watch and killed one in combat(!) then lost 4 of them but managed to break the sole survivor out!
My second turn I just started wasting Greyhunters left right and centre and popping the pods, when Bjorn and the rest came in turn three there was little left to support and I canned them also in one turn.
My lone sternie and pod meant his cavalry had to spend the whole game in their deployment killing them to stop the line break and then hold their objective.
He ended up with his wolflord and one drop pod left on the table, I had 80% of my army, it played to a draw on VPs but I was resoundingly happy with my IF successors, bolter drill just keeps working away at your enemy.
Overall I'm not that impressed with Wolves, would like to play that same army with more objectives spread around as he had little choice but to drop hard into my kill box but they didn't seem that special, even the Calvary didn't shine too much beyond a kitted out big assault blob with chaplain.

FYI he cheated. You can't assault the turn a drop pod lands. The drop pods land by deep strike. You cannot assault the same turn you enter the table by deep striking. I would also say it was a mediocre list being played by a poor player. Bjorn is the biggest waste of points in the entire book. He used TWC to camp a backfield objective when he should've used grey hunters for that. He waited until turn 3 to get Bjorn in who he should've dropped as part of an alpha strike. Don't judge the new book based on 1 game with a guy who played a mediocre list badly and doesn't even know the rules.

This exactly. It sounds like he has no idea what he is doing. A decent wolves player will do pretty well against Marines. Even if they're in a pod list themselves. But in fairness, 4 Hunter squads in Pods and a TWC unit is damn boring and very plain. And using his TWC to 'attempt' to clear off the back field objective is poor. If they were nearby they should have mailed him. And the pod. And then moved on.

Oh he charged turn 1 with TWC, I guess I misread. So he didn't cheat, he just played an ineffective list badly. That doesn't mean the new SW codex is bottom tier.
