Hi there,
I am new to the Warhammer 40K world and have just started collecting Blood Angels, however, after purchasing a tactical squad off of eBay, I was left confused to one of the weapons a marine was holding... At a quick glance it seemed to be some sort of plasma weapon due to the distinctive plasma battery, however after looking at it for a little longer I started to see other characteristics that resembled different parts of weapons, such as the assault cannon (the barrel). I couldn't find anything that looked like it in the latest Blood Angels Codex. I am aware that this is probably not a weapon used any more as some of the marines were part metal indicating the model in question is no longer manufactured, or even a 'combi' weapon the previous owner made up?
Any help possible would be amazing!
Thanks,
Ed.

That's something someone custom-made. Maybe to be used as a Techmarine weapon or something.

Eldar scatter laser, a Shuriken cannon support underneath, with laser sights added, all on a Plasma Cannon hose.
Not sure what it's supposed to be, though.

It'll be a reference to the CS Goto Multi-laser wielder in a one of the books (correct me if I've got that wrong).

Looks to be a plasma cannon with 2 Eldar heavy weapons grafted on.

Edit: sniped by Skinreal's thorough awnser.

Assault cannon barrel with a plasma something. It's a tech marine upgrade.

Okay so custom made... I'm guessing its not usable in a 40K battle?

It can be, if you and your opponent agree what it is.

Until the FW combi-weapon kit came out, I kitbashed nearly all of my combi-weapons. That doesn't make them unusable.

First, Welcome to Dakka!

Others have sourced the parts that make up the model.

I suspect it’s a counts-as for a conversion beamer. Which is a Master of the Forge weapon upgrade for codex marines, not sure if BA get them.

It looks like a conversion beamer made up from a plasma cannon, a lascannon and some Eldar heavy weapons.

That makes sense.
The Master of the Forge get it, but I don't know what the BA version of that is.

The Chapter's Techmarine has had some time in his hands to experiment with various fragments of technology, and crafted himself a personal heavy weapon

I'd call it a conversion beamer, since they don't technically have an "official" model for them (counting out the FW one), and the technology versions vary even inside the Imperium... as long as you don't tell the Mechanicus.

My money's on that as well; the character looks like a tech marine of sorts.

So I guess I could just use it as a Master of the Forge (from a vanilla Space Marine chapter) and then ally it with my Blood Angels?

Yes, then you'll need another Troops unit to round out that Allied detachment. (A five-man Tactical Squad in a Rhino or Razorback is cheap and flexible.) Most peoples won't mind if they're painted like your other Blood Angels, but they shouldn't get their Chapter Tactics. (Most other Chapters' Tactics are better anyway.)

And you'll need to purchase a copy of Codex: Space Marines if they go to a tournament.

Thats the 5th edition techmarine "blood cannon" it fires "blood ammo" blessed in a chalice of blood by a blood priest.

the ammo itself is made by necron cults on mars.
