How are tanks deployed? I imagine that would be how Knights would deploy. Also, like Engine of War said, it would be cool if you could air drop Knights. Which has got me thinking....what about air dropping tanks? Wouldn't it be cool if along with everything that can be parachuted to the earth for an invasion, you can air drop Leman Russes and Baneblades at full combat readiness?
Imagine that, paratroopers, walkers, and any easily assembled weapons platforms dropping to the ground and setting up, paving the way for an invasion, and a baneblade drops with 4 giant parachutes, and rolls off the platform with guns blazing

I will forever remain humble because I know I could have less.
I will always be grateful because I remember I've had less.

Modified hevey duty lander, big tonnage and size to carry the knight with custom load clamps I'd say is most sensible. Lands, doors drop and it bounds put onto the field.

Probbly also with support units or other troops and there kit.

Shame to waste cargo space!

Blood Angels are way ahead of ya there. We can deepstrike landraiders, supposedly from overhead thunderhawks but i prefer to think of them rolling out of the back of a heavy duty low-orbit spacecraft with parachutes popping open and them crushing the enemy beneath their bulk. Sadly the one time i tried this i lost the 225 point landraider and the 250 point assault squad inside it to a mishap.. from a squad of shoota boys...

I can see air dropping lighter stuff up to a Russ, but not a 300 roughly ton super hevey.
The ground would have to be perfect, drop, and its a valubnle asset.
Drop ship job not chutes and retro rockets.

Definitely air drop APC and hell hounds etc though.
Nice and light, easy one just need fairly hard ground.

There are plenty of load-lifter craft that could transport a Knight. I mean look at some of the Epic models. Marines have a Thunderhawk Lander that can carry multiple tanks, and I could see something along the lines of an Imperial-style Ork Landa, in which the back drops and Knights simply stride out.

Just because the Knights aren't part of regular Imperial forces they are not precluded from having access to their own resources.

Remember they are owned by private individuals and they undoubtedly have a staggering amount of wealth.

They probably own their own drop/retrieve ships as well as any interstellar transport and support vessels.

Seriously guys, this is all in Battletech, it's what GW ripped of for their giant fighting robots.

The "Knightly houses" are also from BT. Kurita, Davion, Word of Blake (more a government than a house) Bannson's Raiders, Northwind Highlanders, Clan Jade Falcon, etc.

All th background and logistics info you need for Imperial Knights and their TO&E was written 20 years ago by FASA.
Just scrape off the serial numbers and you can plug it right in.

I thought BT ripped off GW? Knights are nowhere near new in 40k, fluff or idea wise. They were around during Epic.

Battletech's been around since the 80s, comfortably pre-dating epic 40k. Their area of inspiration was more along the lines of Japanese Anime (google "unseen mechs" sometimes for an intreasting story)

that said accusing GW of ripping off battletech is a bit silly. other then big robots and houses, which are orginized diffrently, theres no comparing the two

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Battletech is based off Macross, heh. The original Battletech toys were Macross Destroids - just like the original Transformers toy was a VF-1 Valkyrie toy.

well macross was only one of several sources they borrowed their inital mechs from. and I'd not say "is based off" more "was initally inspired by" is a bit moire accurate. the games moved in it's own direction for a long time now. for one thing mechs aren't the super fast moving back flipping type anime mechs

Well, that's actually pretty much true. In Titanicus, the heavy lifter that brings the Legion to the planet is described as looking from a distance like a mountain peak jutting up out from a cloudbank, as it hovers over the city. It pretty much eclipses the sun for the entire city.

Neither are Destroids. Not all anime mecha are born equal, you know.
