Subject: I have some Imperial Knight questions

I just started an Imperial Knight army that I doubt anyone will play against. I understand and would probably avoid playing against it as well. But, I really do like the models and building the army. And I actually painted a model for the first time in years, a Knight with the battle cannon. But I have some questions about the army and maybe someone can help me out:
1. I read somewhere on here that there was a WD exclusive IK, not model but rules for one. Is that true?
2. FW released the Lancer a few months ago and they are releasing one or two more variants soon. Is it one variant with several weapon options like titans? Or two seperate models?
3. How many variants of IK are there (fluff wise) and do you think GW/FW will release more later down the road? I want to get at least one of each FW variant to add to my 3 GW models.
Thank you.

WD did come out with a 500 point IK, it's got a few better stats. BS5 and other stuff. Its for the red waaagh! Campaign but I'm not sure really if it's something you're allowed to bring to a reg game but I don't see why not

to answer 3. I think there are..
Paladin (battle cannon)
errant (melta cannon)
lancer (spear thing)
Crusader and Castellan
the last 2 have a Quake Cannon mounted on their back (yes. same thing a Banesword or a titan has, uber artillery piece) they are said to be more heavily armored and forgo melee weapons for supporting fire. the difference between the 2 is that the Crusader has twin Lascannons and the Castellan has multi barrel autocannons. best bet it would be like 4 TL AC shots. but I dunno.
only problem with saying they have "lascannon" and "autocannon" is those are epic scale right now. for all we know these could be really BIG lascannons or autocannon that would put the normal scale one to shame.
Still.... a Quake Cannon wielding, TL LC or AC would be nasty. especially when supported by the other ones. there is the Baron but its just a "SUper" version that is an HQ I think. with better WS/BS and invul.

I saw the two FW IKs that should be released soon, one has a flamer and power sword. The other has a double chain sword and what looks like a TL Vulcan Mega bolter. Are the Crusader and Castellan in addition to those?

Gerantius is really rather awesome, plus it helps you get near 1500 without allies, as there aren't any Knights with options yet.

Owning 3 Knights = Not 1500 points but being quite a good deal better off. Which is me.
Plus at least one of both types is preferable, because the RFBC struggles against AV14, and that buggers the points up some, thing rotten.

Warning. Beware of Flyers. you can't hit them with your main guns and your stubbers will either do nothing at all to the armor or do so little its practically pointless.

Forge world, per their own seminars, is planning on a making whole army lists based on the knights. They do have 2 additional knights done up with even more promised to come. In theory the rules for those additional knights have been set for a November/december release time frame. My guess is that said book, set in 30k heresy era, will contain more than the 2 already previewed. I would also expect whatever knights they come out with to be 40k approved as well as 30k.

I fully expect one of them to have an AA mount so powerful that Thunderhawk Gunships will cry.

What I cant wait for is the Knight Baron kit. I hope they give it a slew of option to make the head of your knight house the unbridled bad*** that every baron should be.

Almost done with my first Knight, pictured below. I have to paint the base and put a matt coat over the transfers. I have the second one in the box ready to be built and the 3rd one already ordered. I also have the lancer on the way. Just waiting for FW to put the new IKs on their site. I also picked up the WD with Gerantius in it.
I do have one question about the Cerastus. In the IK Codex it says you must nominate one of your Knights as the warlord, which gives you +1 to your BS, WS, and Invul. And the FW rules for Cerastus say this:
"Codex: Imperial Knights: Cerastus Knight-Lancers may be chosen as part of a Codex: Imperial Knights army as you would other types of Knight. However, owing to their rarity in the 41st Millennium, you may not have more Cerastus Knight-Lancers in your army than you have Knights of other kinds." Source: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/L/lancer.pdf
Can I make the Cerastus the Warlord in my IK army, provided I follow all of the other rules for fielding him? The way the rules read it sounds like yes.
Here is my 1st Knight:

Yes, you can make a Knight Lancer your Warlord. I would not, as the +1 Invuln only applies to ion shields, which the Knight Lancer does not have (it functions almost the same, but since it doesn't have the actual Ion Shield, it wouldn't apply RAW). Use your Lancer to kill other Imperial Knights/Super Heavies, since he gets the +1 I on the charge, and will likely kill them before they even get to swing.
In fact, I might pick one up to use as a LOW in my army to hunt down other IKs i face off against. Hmm...

True on the +1 to the shield, I didn't think of that. I will probably make the FW Knight with the mega blaster my Warlord as a BS of 5 would be nice. I noticed that there were several named Knights like Gerantius. Has anyone heard if they will add more? I'm really excited about my IK army and its killing me that its being done piecemeal. I have great plans for this army that I will most likely never get to field.
