Hi, I'm new to the game and I'm just trying to get my head around the rules. So basically when an ork boy is in CC with a slugga and choppa, he gets 2 attacks with the chopper. But the slugga is a pistol meaning it can be used as melee. So does this mean he gets 3 attacks in total. And is this regardless of if he shoots then charges?
I played my brother in law the other day and I think I stitched myself up a bit by not checking all the rules.
Any help/advice would be great
Thanks

If the boy would charge, he'd even get a fourth attack.

Orks have a pretty high number of attacks compared to most other armies, so it might feel wrong. Keep in mind that orks have a low initiative and usually bad save, so the number of attacks balances a bunch of orks dying before they strike.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

+ any ork player worth there teeth and choppa brings tons of basic boyz so that any low skill or saves are mitigated by sheer mass of green muscle.

A huge mob can bring bucket loads of dice to a turn.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

Ideal thanks for the confirmation. Think I'm finally getting the idea of it all.

Orks do have an unusual attack count, even most MCs or HQs compete for numbers of dice thrown per model. The few that attacks more than a nob or warboss either has a special rule (daemon weapon for CSM for instance), expensive as holy hell to get those attacks, or both lol.
As Jidma stated, this is countered by low armor/init. Except for my MANz against something that cant pen their armor, odds are i lost just as many boyz that you lost marines even though i charged you - difference being....your marine is about 2x the cost of a boy lol
I have had times where ive been punched out of combat range, since if you dont have any models in base contact you cannot swing at all (which is LAME). That reaaaally pisses me off.

Its even better with a Weirdboy in a blob of 30 boyz. Thats funny to do, on the charge each boy has 5 attacks
Warpath is nothing to scoff at. Nasty ass spell.

2 base

1 for 2 melee weapons ( pistol and choppa is pretty standard, see Assault Marines)

1 for the first turn on the charge

And in the first turn don't forget your +1 strength for being such a furious charger!

An ork boy on the charge is easily worth 2 space marines..,and he costs a third of what they do!

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

I'm a relatively new ork player (3 months now), and one of the biggest things I had to learn was that orks on the charge a deceptively nasty, primarily because of those 2 base attacks.

Even shoota boys get 3 attacks a piece on the charge. My mobs of 20 Shootas will run up, empty 40 Str 4 shots into you, then charge you with 60+ Str 5 WS 4 attacks. With that many attacks, it doesn't even matter what armor your enemy has.

Also of note: The 2 wounds on nobz and flash gitz also make them deceptively tough as well.

Warboss Spine Squisha's Ork Warband: 3,000 Points, 1W-3L
