I haven't bought any music in a while now, i don't mean using torrents, i literally haven't had much new music at all. I don't know where to actually buy music from now.

I don't wish to support Amazon, and only ever download from there if it's hard to find. Beatport is rubbish and expensive anyway. Play doesn't exist anymore. Itunes is Itunes.

Any other options? Prefferably flac, but mp3 is acceptable if there is a large availability.

Itunes,

Spoitfy has tons of music you can listen to for free. You get an ap for it and listen to it anywhere. (including offline)

I particularly like itunes because it is very easy to use.

For good music Check out OCR remix

They make video game soundtracks and give it to people for free.

Spotify. 10$ a month for unlimited, ad-free access to any music you want anywhere. Can't beat that.

Probably work

The band's website, if they have one. Generally that's the best way to make sure they get as much of the profit as possible from your money. Failing that, I go to CD Baby to see if it's there. As a worst case, I go to Google Music or Amazon, but I'll usually buy a CD once it gets to that point.

Assume all my mathhammer comes from here: https://github.com/daed/mathhammer

Well, Amazon give you the download free with a lot of CD purchases, and cloud space to store them in, so if might be worth giving them another look. They might not be the best of companies, but you do get a good service.

I'll also second Spotify, even just for trying before you buy. I've heard a lot of stuff on there I wouldn't have otherwise, and even in the free version, you can still create playlists, save tracks/albums and while there are adverts, they're not massively invasive, and only 30 seconds every held hour or so.

I use iTunes, but then I buy maybe three songs a month (I get more tv shows than music). Spotify does sound pretty awesome for someone with more musical interest than me.

If you want to try Spotify for free: the web players does not have ads.

Not sure if this is always the case or if my adblock blocked it, but before I started our subscriptions, we had no ads on the web player either.

They might be blocked by adblockers (I don't get ads on Hulu, just blank screen @_@)

I've used Bandcamp a few times to buy Monstercat albums. Never had a problem, but I'm not sure how much mainstream music they offer

Bandcamp is awesome. A real gold mine of independent, self-published music. Not gonna find mainstream stuff there, however. I just buy that stuff on iTunes.

Seconding Bandcamp if you're looking for non-pop stuff. I'm a big Perturbator fan, and I've gotten all his albums through Bandcamp.

Soundcloud also sometimes has downloads, but again, you won't be finding mainstream stuff on there. Like Bandcamp it's more for independent artists.

Thanks for the replies.

I am aware of OCR. Voices of the Lifestream is wonderfull. And i own all of Zircon's CDs. And support him and Gillian in their kickstarters.

Bandcamp is also great. Star Ruler by Artem Bank was a wonderfull find.

Regarding Spotify, it does sound good. My friend pays for it, but i can not. The reason being i have half decent audio equipment which won't be much use with it, especially on the go. I'm one of them silly audiophiles, just with some common sense

I will check out the other links and such suggested, thanks.

I almost always agree with Albatross, I can't see why anyone wouldn't.
