Hi guys

I am going to a small tournament at 1850pts that has the following restrictions :
- forbidden to take any triplet except in troops
- no allies
- no special formation or dataslate
- no forge world
- no LoW except characters (Draigo, Logan, Ghaskull)...

I have the choice between mainly GK and orks at that level so i wanted to try out the orks with a speedy army. Here it goes :

Big Boss on bike with PK
Doc on bike with boss pole

3 Meganobz, truk
12 tank busta, nob, truk
12 tank busta, nob, truk

12 boys, nob, PK, truk
10 grots

4 buggys with rockets
4 buggys with rockets
11 warbikes, nob, PK

15 lootas
5 Kustom Mega Kanon, 5 grots (for reroll, not sure english name sorry^^)
3 traktor kanons, 2 kanons, 4 grots (for reroll, not sure english name sorry^^)

So i wont have anything like a deathstar or that can manage a deathstar, but many different quick units that can be dangerous (bikers, meganobz, tank bustas), quite a lot of AT (tankbustas, buggys, all the PK) some AA (traktor and all the TL rockets)

I know i have nothing to manage psychic heavy, but as an ork i dont have much choice there.

Does anyone have ideas for some improvement (keeping the general spirit^^)

Are multiple CADs allowed? Not having access to Multiple CADs really hamstrings orks in my opinion.

No they are not :(

at least no allies hamstrings a few others ( i wanted at first to take a GK/SM list with some DKs, bikers and a devstar^^)

Oh and while i stilly have time to buy a few things for the tournament, i cant take a list with 90 shockboys for instance as i only have about 10 of them (and only a single BW...)

Wow, this tournament is against fun! It's 7th ed, not 5th...

Any, back to the list:
Try and have Boss Poles in each unit. The re-rolls for Mob rule really help.
I can't see the benefit of mixing Kannons in with your Traktor Kannons. Most of the time, half the unit will be Snap Shooting.

Regarding your "ammo runts" (English Translation)

Because the closest gun shoots first, and only 1 ammo runt is allowed per gun taking more than 1 or 2 seems a little useless.

To utilize them the guns would have to shuffle to bring the gun with the unused ammo runt to the front. This of course would result in a "Snapfire" situation. This renders the reroll useless and worse with a blast (you don't even get to shoot)

With those restrictions, I suggest grey knights. Orks need buffs to be competitive which wasn't given to us in our codex.

That rule only applies to mutiple barrage weapons.
There are no Barrage in this list.

Yes i agree that the tournament makes it hard (anyway in France, Forge is often refused, LoW as well, and its rare that multiple detachments are allowed (usually you can take a single ally)

I am not really sure if GK can really be competitive without being able to ally or take any triplet, but if you have ideas i will take it

For the Boss Poles i agree totally that it would be quite usefull, i already tried to have a character in all units (except for the lootas) but only have a BP on the bike squad.
So i need to find 20 pts, that could be one of the kanons and associated ammo runt or a biker and ammo runt.

For the mix of kanon and traktor, i was not sure if 5 traktor was not too much (and having kanon instead of the last 2 makes the unit cheaper and more efficient against groud based targets)

Or i could make it :

12 tabkbustas is total overkill, and when their truck gets wrecked half will die in fire and the other half will be killed by small arms, and there goes a super expensive unit. Now imagine that happening twice.

In my opinion you should drop both tankbusta units to 5 or 6, ditch the nobs, and add 3 squigs to each unit.

Then ditch the grots. They're out of place in the list and you probably just used them to fulfill your mandatory second troops slot. That's missing the forest for the trees, I think. Orks want boots on the ground. Boyz before toys.

Using the points you've just gained from halting the tankbustas and ditching the grots, buy as many trucks full of Boyz that you can. Skim points in your list everywhere you can find. Aim for two more trucks. It's 142 points for a 12 man boy team including a pole klaw non in a naked truck. Try to drop 300 points somewhere and make it happen. Cut the buggy teams down a few members. Maybe drop 1 traktor beam. You need more boots on the ground, in my opinion.

trukk boys are awful unless they are 'ard boyz.I hate trukk boyz. especially when apinboys and kff big meks can REALLY toughen up a unit.

Im not sure 12 tankbustas is overkill, they still hit badly so i need a few if i want some hits.

However i also have to take into account the models i have so my list was changed a bit

Mek, BP

5 KMK 5 ammo runts
4 traktor, 4 ammo runts

So now there are some BP everywhere, still 4 truks + bikers as fast and dangerous units, with some ok firepower (9 Mek Gunz, lootas, buggys, bikers, tankbustas)

I have found that breaking up the tankbusters into two truckks is more effective two lots of 8 with two sets of squiggs can do twice as much damage and provides 2 targets on a rush also I have found that lootas are optimal at 7 if you can afford the slots I have found that three lots of these sitting on the back objectives hopefully in ruins have been more useful than mek guns and are usually ignored as they are less than 100 pts each and if they are focused on then great as you loose one it doesn't matter so much where as in a group of 15 you loose a few the whole lot run off the board.

actually for the tank bustas that is a good idea.
