Just seems weird a group that touches so many factions in the fluff isnt able to play outside of some FW stuff any guesses as to why they get no love ?

You might want to recheck your thread title... there's going to be some amazing replies to this thread.
I would very much like to "touch" the mechanus and "give it some love", if you know what I mean?

It's a mystery.
It's clearly wanted, and has been for decades, but nothing comes of it.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."
This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

You want the Mechanicus (I'm assuming that's what you meant) to actually get a codex or something? Am I understanding this correctly?

The Mechanicus is actually available in a variety of armies but only in a limited fashion. I think the major reason for this is that their most common units (Skitaari) are too similar to existing armies. The basic skitaari is essentially IG. The more engineered ones would be pretty similar to a SM. Most of the bigger stuff is either in the different army books or is an Imperial Knight or LoW that is available. I once asked FW why they didn't bring their Mechanicus models to a 40K list and their answer was; forgeworld <forgeworld@gwplc.com> Jan 26 to me Hi there. Although we may publish rules for some Mechanicum items in the future for regular 40k games, the majority or our models thus far released will unlikely appear in this fashion as they do not exist within the background of the 41st millennium. This is because the Thallax and Castellax are from the Ordor Reductor which is section of the Legio Cybernetica which was disbanded after the Horus Heresy was over. I still hope they will some day publish the units so they can be taken like cypher in any imperial army or something. I really love the models.

No reason not to use Thallaxxii as counts-as Terminators, or Castellax as Dreadnoughts.

I just use the Taghmata Omnissiah list in regular 40k games. Works just fine, had no problems so far, been playing it since the book was released.
I also have Legio Cybernetica allies. Automatically Appended Next Post: ansacs wrote:The Mechanicus is actually available in a variety of armies but only in a limited fashion. Hi there.

That isn't right at all, according to the fluff I've read. The Ordo Reductor still exists at least according to the Liber Mechanicum (White Dwarf 177) as does the Legio Cybernetica in the 41st Millenium.
If they change that fluff I will be very very very very very very very very very very very sad.

Probably because it treads across existing ground. Introducing an entire new army to the hobby isn't an easy thing to do. And you want to make sure that you're not invading the gaming space owned by another army. Otherwise you're simply trading profits from one product against another, and only adding an increased cost.
The easiest example of this are the IGuard. They went from 9 ranges (metal Cadians, Catachans, Tallarn, Mordian, Valhallan, Steel Legion, Praetorian, Vostroyan, Tanith (sorta)) to 2. Honestly, I think if they hadn't come first and early in the transition to plastics, the Catachans would never have been made at all. The fact that the Space Marines continue to have multiple ranges demonstrates just how many models the Space Marines sell. Plus, with the exception of the Space Wolves and Grey Knights, you can pretty much assemble all of the other SM armies out of the same basic kits.
If a Mechanicum army were to exist, it would have to present the ability to sell to a segment that doesn't already exist.
But since we haven't seen a "new" army since the Grey Knights, and seen several model ranges be shelved/merged, I don't see a mass market Mechanicum addition to 40K.

FW is slowly covering the Mechanicum.
The problem with a new faction is that it would be a new faction, and require a major investment in new kits. The last time that happened was the Dark Eldar revamp, which took close to a decade of JesG and Phil Kelly pushing and working.

I mean, I hate to say this, but I think the Imperium has enough as far as factions/supplements. 5 Space marine books, Imperial Knights, the Assassins dataslate, all the supplements, and the fact that they're all battle brothers. I mean, it's nice to dream, but I really don't see GW giving you guys a whole other faction.
