Just wondering about the background of CSM and would they technically be bound to the warp, not entirely like daemons, but with the ability to form again like daemons considering they gave themselves to the dark gods? Like with the Ork warboss Tuska the daemon killer, how hes bound to the warp through a curse, would CSM be cursed or have that connection when they turn corrupt? I know Horus didnt form back (that we know of) but maybe the longer you spend with Chaos the more of a connection you have. I know that if a Daemon possesses a CSM you are bound to the warp but Idk could that happen to them?

I think their souls go to the Chaos gods, so they can turn as possesed or deamons.

For most CSM, if they die, their souls go to the warp just like everyone else (several mentions of this are in various places.one off the top of my head being "A Chaos Marine would rather die and have his soul released to the warp than be interred in a Dreadnaught").

Being Chaos Marines, this is usually stated as "soul released to the warp". After all, it's basically saying when they die, their souls go to the gods who rightfully own them, etc.

That said, resurrection rituals for them have been done by other CSM and by the gods themselves in various places. For nonchaos followers, most attempts at resurrection tend to go very very VERY badly even when "successful" (Dark Heresy has several quite horrific ressurection devices) unless the Emperor himself is involved apparently (living saints, etc). For Chaos, meanwhile, it's much more of a possibility (Salamanders and Space Wolves novels have CSM attempting/doing them and the gods keep resurrecting an Iron Warrior literally for the lulz. And Eliphas the Inheritor if you take Dawn of War in your canon. Lucius too, obviously, in his own way), but still doesn't happen that often.

And ofc, Chaos is chaos and doesn't care much for any rules - like chronological time, for example. A dead CSM could well be back time and time again if the fickle chaos powers pick him living out of his timeline and fast-forward him to the point he's needed. He never knows he's died but some GK might have three kill marks for him already.

or as described in their new codex, a hundred before "the chaos gods grew bored of tormenting the poor blighter"

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two
