After recently looking into the Warhammer hobby I have finally decided between two different armies to collect, but my only dilemma is that both of the armies seems very similar in a sense. Do Chaos Space Marines and Space Marines have a similar playstyle, I have heard that they are exactly the same except that Chaos is allowed Daemons and have certain name changes from the Space Marines counter part. Could you please help me out with this and thanks.

Very different.

Space marines, have solid reliable infantry, Diverse transport options, a good selection of tanks, Some very good units and a vast array of allies.

Chaos space marines have unreliable infantry, poor tanks Some very good units, but quite gimmiky and one good ally (which has all of the same weaknesses)

But Chaos is a lot more fun and has a greater diversity in immpressive looking models. They also have a great flyer and very powerful characters.

If you don´t go for Death Guard I suppose? Plague marines with T5.
