Been Around the Block

This morning the Broken Contract - Deep Underground Kickstarter went live. This board game of worker insurrection fuses elements of gritty skirmish wargames like Necromunda and Mordheim with the simplicity of Zombicide to make a fast paced, cinematic, board game/wargame hybrid.

Here's the Alpha Rules:

Pledged!

Post some pics of the actual game tiles and models on here, I think those are more impressive.

Looking forward to playing at Brainstorm, the alpha rules seem fun.

Any figures, yet?

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

I have no figures in hand, just a bunch of 3D renders from my sculptor, Tim Barry. Two were pictured above.

I'm using the exact same team of sculptor, prototyper, and manufacturer as Aetherium/Anvil Eight Games so the finished product will be the exact same quality as their work. Brian Niro from Aetherium/Anvil Eight was kind enough to drop off a bunch of finished models for me to use in some of my photos and they look great. Poke around, check out their models. Its good stuff.

With a few tweaks this could turn into a nice "the hills have eyes" setting

My Bloody Valentine was my first impression, but Hills Have Eyes hits it as well.

Have you considered multipart figures? These guys you have seem a little... dry.

Yes, I have. I've gone back and forth on it. However...

I envisioned this game offering as a board game, like Zombicide, where you pull out the game and play without needing to assemble models. This is why they are posed within the limitations of single piece models.

The hope would be, down the line, I would offer up more hobby oriented kits. I love meticulously assembling my Space Marines and Orks, but the board game crowd and the miniature crowd are not the same. The people I have board game nights with aren't going to bother with a game that requires super glue.

That being said, maybe the miniatures crowd are a stronger buying force than board gamers? Either way, I was trying to remove an obvious barrier to entry.
