Everyone's favorite maid-themed deckbuilder is back with a new expansion! With beer!

To the kickstarter!

"Tanto Cuore is a deck building card game for 2-4 players. The players take the roles of “master of the house,” employ a lot of cute maids, and are served by them while slowly filling out their house (card deck).
But take care! The maids can become sick or get bad habits. When the game ends, the player who has the most victory point-gaining maids in his staff (all his cards) is the “perfect master” and the winner of the game.

Tanto Cuore: Oktoberfest edition is a new twist on a favorite game. We're taking you to Germany! In the Oktoberfest edition you will...

Employ Bar Maids
Start a Beer Stand
And Collect Beer Cards for extra victory points!

Just like previous editions of Tanto Cuore, the cards from this game can be mixed and matched with any variety of cards from the other sets. "

Current add-ons include beer steins, t-shirts, towels, playmats, card sleeves, and the previous expansions to Tanto Cuore.
Current stretch goals are full-art cards, and cosplay art cards.
A couple previews from the set-(Caution: may be NSFW at prudish workplaces)

I don't mind negative criticism of the game- some people don't like various aspects of it, but you could at least be a little more specific than that.

Well, my specific is that Japanime Games lost an entire pledge's worth of orders on their Kazume Goddess, and gave away the promo buttons for this pledge level to distributors. The promo cards they made were of noticeably lower quality than the gaming cards. OLGS's were offering pre-orders at the same or lower price than backers -- who got their rewards *after* the game hit the stores. KG was their first KS, so I'm sure they've improved, but if you don't back the KS and don't need the promos, you can get the game cheaper at the OLGS once it hits retail.

Huh, I missed all that. I know when the had the indiegogo for the last Tanto Cuore expansion, the playmats were late by nearly a month. I just picked up Kanzume at Gencon last year; I didn't even realize they had drama with that project too, or that it was kickstarted in the first place. I'll hold on to my pledge, but I'm probably not going to bother with addons then.

Miniature Market has the $50 MSRP Tanto Cuore products for $35 each, so you're paying $15 for the promo cards. BoardGameGeek has the first promo card set for $5: http://boardgamegeekstore.com/products/tanto-cuore-promo-set-1

Japanime Games is a "sister company" of Kamikaze Games, which is has not completed its Barbarossa KS. I doubt that's going to be a problem (unlike other certain KS I know...!).

Anyway, I have the first set and promo cards for trade or sale, as well as Kazume Goddess and Libra playmat, so if anyone wants them, send me a PM. Update your BGG trade lists. That chibi playmat looks really cute!

Also, if you're into anime wallpapers, use NeoDownloader Lite to grab 'em from Konachan.net! I have118K of their wallpapers in my (technically) SFW anime folder!

Project Update #17: Kickstarter Exclusive in the Works and...More promo card options!
Posted by Japanime Games ♥ Like
We are almost up to $100k in funding! Thanks so much everyone!

Since the campaign has done so well, we are looking into commissioning a new original piece of art from one of the famous Japanese illustrators that has done work on Tanto Cuore. We will use this for a Kickstarter Exclusive item as a special thank you to all of you for your help with this game! We will get back to you on this early next week, but for now....

We have 5 promo cards that are being made for our 5 German friends (Maids!) in Essen, and we love all of the pictures... we just can't decide which ones to use!

We thought it would be fun to give you a vote for what promo cards we create with the photo cards. We have two choices for each girl, and we would love your help to decide which one we should print!

You are all welcome to vote on which one you would like made - and we will count your votes by the end of the campaign to choose which ones to print! If you don't have an opinion, no reason to vote, but if you do - we'd like your input!

New Update!
(Babble about photo promo with Toni Darling)

Now.. I know that you have all been patiently waiting for news of the "Big Box" that we have alluded to. And a Randomizer Deck. And you have wanted a way to get the 15 promo cards that are available with purchase for Tanto 1,2, or 3....So we are working on putting this all together as a big add on item!

The Big Box will have 4 sections inside so that you can put ALL cards from Tanto 1-4 inside, sleeved, along with your promos. It will also include a deck of ALL General Maids (76 total) from Tanto 1-4 to be used as a Randomizer Deck! This deck can be shuffled before playing, and you would choose 10 maids to play with. These cards could then be put out on the table and you would grab the 10 random maids. This would change up your game every time! The cards in this deck will also have a different card back so they are easily differentiated from the regular cards.

We have a special offer for our Kickstarter Backers... this will ALSO be shipped with all 15 promos that are available with Tanto 1-3 add-ons! We wish we could show you this item, but we are still working out the details with Arclight. The idea is to have the artwork from each game shown on the front of the Big Box, and we need the OK from each artist. Additionally, this box will have a magnet enclosure lid and will be a very premium collector's item to hold all 1200+ cards from Tanto 1-4, your promos, your Randomizer Deck, and all of the card dividers too! This box will be a $50 add-on item. It is going to look so nice - we've got a sample box from the factory with the magnet enclosure... it will truly be a premium collector's item!

Feel free to add on $50 for this box now, or you can wait until you see the art (trust me, you won't be dissapointed). Either way, you will be able to add on items to your pledge for the next month after the campaign ends.

Oh... and we have an additional stretch goal in mind for $150k if we get up that high...

This has been an awesome run everybody, thanks so much for your support!

Project Update #23: We did it!

Thanks so much everyone! We appreciate your support! We have been hearing reports from backers that Kickstarter became drunk with excitement over the success of this campaign and sent out incorrect confirmation emails with the wrong pledge amounts, but it appears that the emails that you are getting from Amazon Payments is correct. Please let us know if this seems off as well.

You will be getting an email from us in the next week with the follow up pledge manager, and if you weren't able to get the add-on items that you wanted you will still be able to do so through the pledge manager.

Again, thanks for all of your support! Its time to get to work making some games!

Working...
Posted by Japanime Games
Hey all, just wanted to let you know that we have completed all of the changes and edits for the new edition of Tanto 1-3, and we are finishing up edits on the rulebook for Oktoberfest.

A few other things we are working on:

1. Pledge Manager - We are tying this up as well, should have it ready by the end of the week.

2. Big Box - Arclight has pretty much approved the image layout but has asked us to make a few edits. As soon as I get that back from the graphic designer and the approval process is finalized we will get that posted for you!

3. New promos - As promised, we have more new promos that we are working on to give you guys as a thank you for such an amazing finish on this campaign! Arclight is working on those as well, and one of these will be an exclusive Kickstarter promo!

Pledge Manager Is Alive!
Posted by Japanime Games
Hey Everyone,

As you noticed it took a bit to get our pledgemanager live. That's because the awesome folks at pledgemanager were working on upgrading some code, because as we well know, code is ever changing. We might have been a bit too pushy, because as you notice, there have been a few errors happening here and there. Take a page from our friend Douglas Adams and 'Don't Panic' - we will get these code issues fixed post-haste. In fact by the time you read this message, they should be fixed already. We'll keep you updated if there is anything you need to do on your end. Thank you so much for your support!

More Big Box Info and Playmat Options!
Posted by Japanime Games
Hey all! I have some answers to general Q's I've been seeing in comments and getting in PM's / emails. You may continue to add-on items such as the Big Box, Playmats, Beer Steins and sleeves for the next few weeks. Be sure to include your shipping address when you complete your orders on Pledge Manager! Below are all of the playmats available on Pledge Manager. There is a drop down menu during check out where you can specify which playmat you would like (as part of your pledge or as an add-on).

More info on the Big Box:

- International shipping for the big box is $10. I have asked Pledge Manager to make that automatic, so that should be fixed in the next day or two.

- The box will have 4 sections inside so that you will be able to put ALL cards from Tanto 1-4 inside, sleeved, along with your promos.

- It will also include a deck of ALL General Maids (76 total) from Tanto 1-4 to be used as a Randomizer Deck! This deck can be shuffled before playing, and you would choose 10 maids to play with. These cards could then be put out on the table and you would grab the 10 random maids. This would change up your game every time! The cards in this deck will also have a different card back so they are easily differentiated from the regular cards.

- All 15 promos that are available with Tanto 1-3 add-ons will be included with the Big Box.

- The box will have a magnet enclosure lid and will be a very premium collector's item to hold all 1200+ cards from Tanto 1-4, your promos, your Randomizer Deck, and all of the card dividers too!

Thank you all so much for your support!

Towel Proof and Production/Shipping Update
Posted by Japanime Games
Hello everyone!
We apologize for the wait, but we wanted to make sure we had all the details for you before posting. It looks like Oktoberfest will be delayed a little longer, we are now looking at a delivery date at the beginning of March. We have been working tirelessly on this project but the process of getting approval can take time, because of the need to send hard proofs of everything to Arclight. I know March seems forever away, but there are some deciding factors here, including a 3 week break for Chinese New Year in February. Our hope is to get it done well before this holiday.
To give you a little more insight in to the process of how we go about these campaigns the following is a brief look at our process from start to finish.
1) Confirm the basics with Arclight. The game, the cards, etc are approved of before we come to Kickstarter. There are some small things we get approved during the campaign, such as alt. art cards, and stretch goals/add-ons but for the most part, it's already done before we put it on Kickstarter. Because stretch goals are not products already made my Arclight they take longer for approval. Also some of our stretch goal ideas come up during the Kickstarter based on your feedback.
2) We do not do pre-production proofs before we go to Kickstarter. This happens once we have it up and funding. Before we can go to production, we review proofs for things like copy errors that we missed the first time we looked over the cards, and we also look for color matching on all products- cards, rule book, playmats, mugs, etc. Arclight is very, very particular in color matching. We send hard copy color proofs to Arclight in Japan for approval. This means if we want to do a playmat, we print the playmat and then send it to Japan for Arclight to color match and approve it. A big source of the delays for this project have been related to this process. If there is any discrepancy in the colors, it needs to go back to re-run a pre-production proof. Once those are approved, then we finally get the green light to go to print. That is what is causing the larger delays, not any copy or design issues.
3) Ping pong match of approval from Arclight goes back and forth on all products, game, rule book, add-ons. This can take a few days or a few months depending on what they like and don't like.
4) Once we have the final approval on the game, the rules and all of the accessories from Arclight and now we can go to print!
5) Physical production can take from 5 days up to 30 days, depending on the size of the print run, and shipping from China is 4-6 weeks, plus 1 week in customs. Once they are at our warehouse, we turn out packages as fast as possible!
We sincerely apologize for the delay but we are very pleased to be able to share with you an image of our towel sample below! This sample has been sent to Arclight for approval but the prototype looks great, the colors are vibrant and the towel feels amazing! We appreciate your patience and support!

Itty Bitty Update
Posted by Japanime Games
Hey guys! I know you are all wondering if we are still on track for March. So I inquired with the higher powers and .... the Soft Proof of Oktoberfest is in its approval stage now! We are still on track and will let you know if anything changes. Sorry there's not much more but I didn't want to leave you hanging! Just a reminder, you can login to pledgemanager.com at any time if you need to change your order or address. We will let you know before we close it but that wont probably be until March.

Production and Shipping Timeline!
Posted by Japanime Games
Production and Shipping Timeline:
The soft proof is being approved by Arclight after a few revisions. Below is about how long we expect the next steps in production to take.
- 1 Week: Once Chinese New Year is over in about a week, approval on the soft proof should go through.
- 1 Week: Then the hard proof will be made (this should only take less than a week) and shipped to Arclight for approval (should only a few days to ship Japan).
- 1 Week: Once Arclight has the hard proof it should only take a week for approval.
- 2-3 Weeks: Once the hard proof is approved we can go to print. Printing will take 2-3 weeks.
- 3-4 Weeks: Shipping to our warehouse in MA will take 3-4 weeks.
- 1-3 Weeks: Once it arrives at our warehouse, we process it and ship it to you (1-3 weeks depending on where you live).
So best case- you will have your Oktoberfest pledge by the middle or end of April. Worst case you have it by the beginning or middle of May depending on where you live. Worst worst case- if the hard proof is not approved and we have to re evaluate the release date again, but barring any production errors there should be no delays on the hard proof approval as the soft proof approval has been reworked already.
As soon as approval goes through on the soft proof and then the hard proof I will let you know. As far as the add-ons, everything is on schedule and we see no reason delays in that area. If anything comes up we will let you know.
Pledge Manager
Just a reminder the pledgemanager.com is still open, so if you still need to pay, add an address, change your address or change your order in anyway, please do so soon. If you are considering adding on more goodies, be advised that we will close the Pledge Manager a week or two before shipping, so keep a sharp eye on updates. We will let you know when its closing a week or so in advance.
If you have not logged in to Pledge Manager yet, you need to do so pretty please with cherries on top. I cannot stress this enough. You will not receive your rewards if you have not completed your Pledge Manager survey. Even if you think you might have completed it but you're not 100% sure, please log in and check. Every Kickstarter, dozens of people email me after shipping wondering where their stuff is, only to find out that they never completed their Pledge Manager survey. Forgot your login? No problem- use the 'forgot my login' function. If you have any questions or need help, email me at info@japanimegames.com or support@pledgemanager.com for assistance.

Production Update!
Posted by Japanime Games
At long last- Everything has been approved for Oktoberfest and the hard proof has been created! YAY! The hard proof was just sent to our editor last Friday. When he receives it and checks off on it, the production will begin. We expect production to start in early July, so to be safe, between printing and international shipping time, we are looking at receiving it in early September.
I know this is a little punch in the gut. We really pushed for production to start right away so we would have it this summer. But we had some major approval hiccups, and remember that unlike all of the other games we have produced, this one was actually an original game we wanted to make and then went through Arclight to get licensing and approval on. Delays like this are a "flip the table" moment for many of you, thats certainly true for us too. But lets try to stay positive. We are double checking, following up and working extra hard to make sure that there is nothing else in the universe that could cause any other reason for delays. We are dotting all the i's and crossing t's on our add-ons and all other aspects of the project and making sure everything is in order so that as soon as it arrives we can ship it out to you.
You can also still add any other add-ons you would like (beer stein, playmats, sleeves, tee-shirts etc.) Since we have a bit more time to make adjustments to your account, don't hesitate to reach out to me.
That being said, check PledgeManager.com to see if you submitted your address. You won't be able to change it in Pledge Manager because Pledge Manager is closed, but you can email me and I will change it for you in our system. Now that we have a pretty solid estimated ship period, I am going to start hounding you for your addresses. 50-100 people each Kickstarter campaign we run forget to send it in, then email me later wondering where their stuff is. I would really like to see at least 90% if not 100% of addresses in this time so no one's stuff is delayed.
Thank you for your continued support! We are coming down the home stretch!
