Well, I play only dominion, I don't know if my thoughts are really worth a brass farthing, but I'll try.
The sub factions within Dominion do have different play styles, but there's a few general thoughts.
The breen are tricky. The ship(s) is fragile, and the energy dampener is hard to pull off. The promo ship has a quasi cloak, it can sensor echo which is neat but not great. The best card from them I'd probably say is the Breen aide, which gives you the ability to turn blanks into hits with a scan token (free with the independent/ Klingon flagship card).
The cardassians have some great stuff. The keldon is amazing, dorsal weapons and a cloak, a huge range of options. Galors are manoeuvrable, and you'll want the various crew, especially Boheeka, who stacks with Dukat's free battle stations to convert hits. If you can get the promo Hideki fighters they are amazing, incredibly difficult to destroy and very annoying!
But, for my money, it's all about the jem'hadar. The battleship is a slow brick, great cards and hard to take out although it is a whale. The bugs (jem attack ships) are great, dirt cheap, and the blind buy one from collective is a bit of variety. Suicide runs, and phased polaran beams (ignore shields) mean you can stand up to the Borg, amongst others. The cruiser is great in pairs, possibly a better ship all round. Jemhadar themselves are about taking control of your opponents crew resources - good against fed and Borg.
Weaknesses? Klingons. Cloaks and heavy firepower are hard to counter. Torpedoes are useful, just for volume of fire. Take the fight to them and remember - Victory is Life!

Everything inmygravenimage has said!
The Jem'Hadar battlecruiser is amazing, a great ship. The battleship isn't quite as good (though our DS9 OP was one by a dual battleship list)
Cardassian ships are not the most manoeuvrable and somewhat fragile but have great firepower and arcs.
I'm a big fan of the Breen, very agile ships, energy dissipators can mess up the Borg.

I'd genuinely recommend getting 2 Keldons. Not only are they pretty darn cool ships, having 2 Dorsal Weapon Arrays about gives you lots of options, particularly for something like the big Jem Hadar ships, particularly the Battleship.
However, I've been finding it pretty useful in the campaign I'm taking part in right now, where you're only allowed 60 points, playing in 2 teams (usually of 2-3 people per side).
In these case, the Dorsal Weapons Array is pretty darn great at allowing me to just simply keep on firing, especially with Gul Dukat.

The Dominion have a lot of tricks in their bag when it comes to upgrades. They also have the most diversity in their ships.
Klingons can give them a hard time, but the Dominion has 2 under used upgrades that can wreck cloakers. EM Pulse and Anti Proton Scan are really good. If a klingon ship is hit with 1-2 EM Pulses it is in for a bad time. -1 attack & -1 defense for each EM Pulse is rough for Klingons to over come. Anti proton Scan is bad too, +1 attack die and a scan token on a ship with Gul Dukat can take out cloakers fast.

Thanks guys, I've been thinking of a theme, so I wanted 3 bare bones beetles and a cruiser to back them up, how does that work in attack wing?
Btw I'm a total newb, I also cannot find the basic beetle to buy anywhere

It's not terrible. It leaves you 8pts for captains and upgrades in a standard game. If you start playing other noobs you should do alright. Once everone starts to get some experience you may want to drop 1 beetle and give yourself 28 points for captains and upgrades. The beetles are light weights so better captains can Keep them alive longer.
Sar from the Gor Portas expansion is great on a beetle. He adds 1 defense die, so that gets the ship up to 3 with battle stations makes foe a slippery little ship.

What does the group think of mounting the battleship on a large (borg cube) base, to give it a sense of bulk and to widen it's attack arc, compensating for it's ponderous movement by opening up it's aggressive frontal weapons and somewhat boosting it's movement.

I would probably disapprove. It's not like I'd not play you, but I think it would look ridiculous. I like how you're thinking, but I think the model would have to be significantly bigger to make it work. The biggest gameplay problem I would have is that being on a bigger base makes it MUCH faster.
Really, what it needs is Dorsal whatchamacallit so it can still shoot things while it's running around trying to turn around. A rear arc would be nice, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't have that...

My intended project. Wife wants her battleship to be scary big.
I agree on the speed, we might tone that down and pile more shields/hull points onto it. It should be a floating tank. They were really.very.big.

I love Dorsal Weapon Arrays, I'm not one to buy duplicate ships, however the Keldon class is definitely one I don't regret getting duplicates of.
The Dorsal Weapons are almost essential for the Jem Hadar Battleship, for example.
And, in the Dominion War Campaign I'm playing, Dorsal Weapons have been proving invaluable on my Battle Cruiser too.
It's probably not something necessary on standard games, but when you've only got 60 points yourself but still have the potential to take a lot of fire from far more than 60 points, the Dorsal Weapons let you do something far more original with your moves than what they'd expect. For example, I spent 8 turns flying in a 2 white turn circling round a Borg Soong and the only time he could hit me was when he got the space to do an about turn.

What I learned last night: always stick dorsal weapons on a J'H battleship (and never take advice from a romulan player!)

I haven't tried it myself but what do you guys think of a Keldon with a breen ED weapon The Keldon would be at range 1 so that is 6 attacks. It might almost be worth paying the extra 5 pts.

Put Gul Dukat on one with Anti Proton Scan and you could have 7 attacks w/ battle stations. As far as I know there has been no ruling to say the cube token has active shields.

Adding my thoughts-
My favorite Dominion ship is the Gor Portus. Not much on the Primary Weapon, but look at that upgrade bar. 4x Weapon Slots. FOUR! Fun times. Energy Dissipator FTW! It's a fantastic second ship. Anyways...
Best Dominion ship? Jem'Hadar Battle Cruiser (2nd Division Cruiser). Great maneuver dial, awesome firepower, and a great upgrade bar. Combined with Dorsal Weapons Array, and some just fantastic crew upgrades, this ship rocks.
Next, I really, really like the Battleship, and it's my "Go To" ship when facing Borg or single ship builds. I like to use the 4th Division Battleship, Weyoun (skill 7 one), Admiral Gul Dukat, Remata'Klan, Shroud, Boheeka, and Independent Flagship (Romulan). Expensive? Heck yeah. But I love throwing 10 attack dice on the opening shot with Battlestations and possible Target Lock. Note: Will only work against 2 or more ships. Beware and be warned, the ship is flies like a brick, and if something gets behind you, good luck. You'll never be able to out-maneuver them. Hence, the importance of a second ship that hangs back to guard your flanks/rear. That's the only reason why it's not my favorite ship in the game.
Had a very interesting game the other day against another Dominion Player with a 4th Dvi BS: He managed to get within range 1 of my BS and used Kudak'Etan. All my crew became disabled. I couldn't believe it, re-read his card, then LOL'd and thought it was a wonderful tactic. Not sure I'd have put him on the BS- I'd have put him on a secondary ship and used the combo above.
Another fun trick- target lock, or Battle Stations, with Phased Polaron Beam, trying for the crits.
The Dominion has some fun tricks to them.

Yeah it is on the resource card. It would have been better if it was on the ship cards. We had a guy play 2 rounds of an OP and didn't realize that until round 3. We couldn't fault him, he was new to the game and someone suggested he take them. You just have to be careful with resources there is all kinds of stuff on the resource cards that isn't printed elsewhere.
