A few things, I'm used to making 1500 lists and I'm taking a shot at 1850, since it appears it's the tournament standard these days and I wanted to give a slightly higher number a try. Second, I'm still somewhat new to the game, I've played maybe 10-15 games while experimenting with both Tyranids and Chaos and I've been on a few websites reading about army lists and tactics and such. Third, I wanted to try the formations, particularly when I noticed with a better data repository for Battlescribe and I was going to use Biovores and Exocrines anyway.

I intend to keep the Biovores in the back with their Tyranid babysitters, moving the Exocrines up because of their mid-range weapons. The two Termagant Broods are going to be followed by the pair of Tyranid Warrior broods, hanging out with Venomthropes and the Zoanthropes (I wanted extra AT but I can probably have two Venomthrope broods instead). And the Flyrants are going to be doing what they do best.

I'm not sure both warrior broods are necessary. You've got decent synapse coverage from the artillery broods, the zoanthropes and the tyrants.

One brood is probably enough to back up the zoanthropes - it's not like termagants have [i]Feed[/].

That'd buy you enough points to upgrade the venomthropes to 2 Malanthropes (if they're allowed) and to throw a sizeable number of devourers in amongst the termagants, giving you enough small arms fire to make those broods a real threat (just leave some fleshborers at the front as bullet catchers).

Termagants expended for the Hive Mind: ~2835

That's a lot of shooting bugs. Scary stuff, would love to play it.

Forgive the uber noob question but where can you find the rules for malanthropes.

I need to find the newer Malanthrope rules. Which book are they in, Imperial Armour 4 Second Edition?

Looks nice! A few mostly minor things...I strongly suggest you toss Thorax Hives on both Winged Dakka'rants, you won't regret it. Also 'minor", but LA gives "pinning" to the Warriors Cannon, so to maximize benefit, you should use Venom Cannon for them. I'd also split out one Veno to fill the open "Elite" slot. That solo Veno can babysit the LA to protect against counter battery.

I don't think I'd run two LA formations though, I would spend that 390 on some Big Bugs in the Heavy slots. You could afford a Tyranofex, Adrenal, Thorax Hive, and a Mawloc, with 50 points left. I think I'd be happier with that build.

The will of the hive is always the same: HUNGER

Yup, Shrouded for 6inches, Synapse, Regeneration, T5 with 3+ and 4 wounds...the list goes on an on. They are fantastic models for 85 points.

I like the list as it is, looks very fun to play Agree with pinecone though about replacing one Living Artillery formation with some big bugs. I'd recommend Carnifexes with Twin Linked Devourers so that you're not reliant on Zoanthropes for heavy tank duties (in addition, more BLW Devourers is never a bad thing )

So took some advice and did some fiddling. I took out one of the Living Artillery Nodes and the one leftover will still be sitting somewhere in the back or closer for the Exocrine to do some damage when he gets in range. I took out one of the Warrior broods with the Termagants. With the points I added another Zoanthrope to the brood and tossed in two Malanthropes. The Termagants now have half devourers, which is really a great idea and I should think about doing half devourers more since 120 points isn't that bad. And I have a Carnifex brood with two TLD Carnifexes.

All of that sounds pretty painful when it gets into range, particularly with the long range support of the Biovores. I can probably find a use for 40 points somewhere.
