The Klingon High Council has grown tired of Organia Peace Treaty. Federation colonization efforts continue to bring the humans closer to the Klingon boarder. Believing that the Federation is looking to establish an invasion base, the High Council has ordered a preemptive strike. Captain Koloth of the Imperial Navy has been elevated to Sector Commander and given the task of ceasing Federation colonies along the border. Koloth has deemed that a Federation mining facility on Archanis IV will be the Imperial Navy’s first target.
Captain J.T. Estaban has been given command of the USS Constitution, to test the ships newly refitted engines. Since the Constitution is the first of her class to be refitted she is being accompanied by the USS Reliant. Under the command of Captain Spock, Reliant will monitor Constitution for signs of stress and fatigue. Both ships have also been tasked with delivering supplies to Federation colonies in the Archanis Sector. Afterwards they are to rondevu with the USS Enterprise, under the command of Captain James T. Kirk.
The USS Enterprise has received a distress call from the mining colony on Archanis IV. The only part of the message that could be understood was “…imminent attack…” and then silence. As Fleet Captain for the Archanis Sector, Kirk has ordered Estaban and Spock to meet Enterprise at Achanis IV with all possible speed. As the Federation ships drop out of warp they come face to face with 4 Klingon battle cruisers. Kirk orders shields up and all hailing frequencies open. The Klingons respond with only one word “In’Cha…”

Our table. The small token off of the planet will represent the mining station. Ships can take an action to lower shields and transport crew to the station. The primary goal of the game will be to destroy the opposing fleet. However, controlling the mining station will be a secondary goal. Players will get 1 attack die and 1 defense die for each captain or crew on the station.
Also note there are no Raptor class ships on the table. Personally I think it is an ugly model and I have replaced all of mine with D7s. The D7 & Raptor classes have the same states and same dial. I just consider Raptors “Recon Class” D7s.
Turn 1
Fleets close, but are out of combat ranger.
Turn 2
Koloth and Krell move in to trap the Enterprise, but wait “OH MY!” Sulu pulls off a sensor echo to avoid the firing arcs of both Klingon ships.
Constitution’s helmsman is not as skillful and his caught by Chang and Kor. Reliant moves in to support.
Constitution is heavily damages. Reliant returns the favor on Chang’s D7. Enterprise also deals minor damage to Krell.
Turn 3
Koloth and Krell are left out of position. Kor attempts to draw off Reliant. Chang risks auxiliary power and comes about on the crippled Constitution.
Chang finishes off Estaban and the Constitution. Enterprise deals more minor damage to Krell.
Turn 4
Chang risks everything to beam a Klingon Boarding Party to the station…
…however he is left with shields down and Enterprise at point blank range. The other Klingon ships come about and Reliant backs up Enterprise.
Kirk does not hesitate and Enterprise sends Chang to Stovakor.
Turn 5
Koloth and Krell are still out of position so Kor is left to face his Federation enemies along. Kirk takes the opportunity to beam Kyle down to the station.
Enterprise and Reliant deal damage to Kor’s ship, but it is not enough to stop a Klingon heart. Kor deals minor damage to Enterprise while her shields are down.
Kyle is no match for Klingon warriors; the station is no longer contested.
Turn 6
Koloth and Krell finally manage to trap Kirk!
Kirk uses Sacrifice and reduces Krell to 1 hull. Reliant finishes him off. Koloth deals more damage to Enterprise, but she holds together. Kor plucks some shields off of Reliant.
Turn 7
Enterprise moves out of the fight to allow Scotty to make repairs. Koloth lowers his shields to beam down another boarding party. Reliant tries to put some space between her and the Klingons. Kor deals minor damage to Reliant.
Turn 8
Ilia realizes that the “Needs of the many” outweigh the needs of the few; she sacrifices herself to preserve Reliant. Kor pursues Reliant. Koloth and Kirk begin to dance.
Turn 9
Spock stuns the Klingons and orders Reliant into reverse catching Kor at close range. Koloth and Kirk begin to face off.
Enterprise cannot hit the Klingons. Koloth believes he has destroyed his human rival…
…but let’s not forgot that he is James

Kirk, death is cheated once more.
Reliant deals 3 hits and 1 crit to Kor with an unmodified roll. Kor swears a blood oath to avenge his ship.
Turn 10
Enterprise and Reliant attempt to regroup on the other side of Archanis IV. Koloth pushes his ship to auxiliary power to pursue his prey.
Turn 11
Reliant provides cover for Enterprise…
…it proves too little to stop Koloth. All out of tricks, the Enterprise is lost.
Turn 12
Reliant moves in on Koloth faster than he expected.
So fast in fact, the Klingons can’t hit a thing. Reliant makes short work of Koloth and the Gr’Oth; however the Empire’s troops still hold the station.
Turn 13
Reliant moves in to beam Spock and Saavik down to negotiate with the Klingons.
Many countless turns go by eventually the Klingons prove that they are not open to negotiation.
With both its captain and first office injured, Reliant gives up plans to retake the station. Reliant finds the Enterprise adrift, but salvageable on the far side of Archanis IV. Enterprise leaves the system, but not under its own power. Enterprise is towed to station K-7 where the Federation will regroup and conduct repairs.
The Gr’Oth and Somraw manage to regain impulse power, but are forced to withdraw from Archanis for repairs and medical care. Koloth calls for reinforcements from Kronos to rondevu with him at Gramalda.
It is now a race to see who can finish repairs and gather fresh reinforcements. The peace is over; the battle for the Archanis sector has begun.
Ok, I tried to add a little more narrative to this one. I hope I didn’t over do it. We may use this game as the start of a little
TOS campaign. There are some other ideas kicking around for battle reports, but if you guys like were this one is going we can come back to it. Thanks for reading. Comments welcome.
