So, long story short(and so it doesn't feel like I'm repeating myself in every thread I've made lately/am being annoying). I'm looking into starting 40K, but I'm wondering how the local scene actually is. I did a search, but all the posts are from months ago...

I live in Hillsboro, specifically but I spend most of my time in Portland. and...Well, what's the casual scene like? I don't care much for meta-gaming, or min-maxing or anything of the sort. I prefer more fluffy armies to competitive ones. But I'm not sure I'd ever be able to actually play around the area without getting absolutely crushed.

I believe Guardian Games in PDX has 40k. But your going to need to let people know what kind of game your looking for.

hah, well, I don't drive so if it's not in the metro area, I can't really get there. but I do appreciate it.

There is a GW in portland now. I know tyler from the chicago bunker before he went out there. Hes a good manager and if you follow the facebook you will see plenty going on in the shop there. It also works well for pick up games if you post on facebook you are coming in.

There is a huge Campaign that has several factions and alliances. Your hero can upgrade with your battles, play anytime you have an opponent, even your allies. Lists of 1,000 2,000 even apacolypse. Check it out
