well unfortunately nurgle didn't like the head, it fell on the floor and two of the horns broke, so ive pulled the face off and will try again.

I have completed the face and its awful, its not like either the picture of typhus or the fish, mmm not a happy bunny.it went wrong from the start where I made the bottom jaw stick out too far to get the depth of the mouth not helped by the fact that the oringal teeth were made from pro create and although fully set just kept breaking off, not sure if it was because I had the putty for a few years. this meant I had to redo the bottom mouth.

there is a certain charm to him and I think if I added a few marks of nurgle and puss etc he might be saveable, that's why he still lives for the time being.

honest opinions good or bad welcome.

hi a quick update,

ive redone the fish on the leg pate and whilst it still needs some work iam much happier with it, I have had to change the position of the lower fangs as with the angel of the leg plate(the shoulder pad on the picture was much shallower) the wider fangs didn't work. I am thinking about putting a tongue in instead of lower teeth or perhaps tentacles coming out of the mouth but iam not decided.

the fly motif is done apart from rusting up the metal and ive done lots of puss and rot as well as more skin. there's a ton more to do but I cant go too quick else I end up in finger prints on the stuff ive just done so have to wait for the green stuff to dry.

I have also made the decision to re do the missile launcher, I just wasn't happy with the hap hazard nature of the missiles so ive used my dremmel to turn a piece of styrene rod into a tip of a missile and press moulding it, I don't think press moulding id the best in a 1 piece mould but it is much better, I will be giving a little more room around each missile as well so either will make the pod larger or reduce the number of missiles.

I also got the auto cannon from the forge fiends kit from a bits site and considering replacing the scratch built ones with that, either way I will be changing the mounting system as I want the left auto cannon to be pointing at more of a 45 degree angle rather than straight ahead.

let me know what you think.

cheers

That latest pic is looking awesome!

The previous post with the shoulder pad, I'm not a fan of... but with nurgle it should be possible to cut / sand down and redo, if you choose to (since it seems from your previous post text that you weren't a fan of that part, either).

I liked the previous fish head but, I too have sculpted things on to shoulder pads and the like and they are just so huge and project so far from the model that they just don't work. The new head also looks good and a tongue sounds good but, my gut reaction is to advise against one.

Every time I look at this model I just see it shambling around in the Garden of Nurgle, it has a very organic feel and the scabby/rusty/warty bits really are repulsive. Do you have a specific technique for those little warty bits? They look time consuming!

The missiles did look a bit naff and I think that the overcrowding is as a result of the length of the missile tips. If they were only half the length they are in the previous pic that would help a lot I think. Of course you could have some of those missile tubes oozing puss and swarming with flies, maybe with a tentacle/tongue licking out of one. One image that has just popped into my head is a nurgling in one tube with another on tip toes, stood on a missile tip and peering in.

A very impressive piece so far and the Green Stuff work is top notch and I love the texture you've put onto it so far.

At first I thought it was pretty good.

Than I was a bit upset to see all the hard work covered in green stuff.

Now it looks amazing so it is okay.

keep it up. Love that gross fish monster shoulder pad.

I actually don't mind the fish head, looks interesting. One question thought, for the horns and teeth/fangs, are you using modelling putty wrapped around wire? It makes it much stronger, especially as you can also use it to pin the piece to the main model.

I still have the head so I might reuse it with new fangs it might live in my bit box for years though

ive attached a picture guide to how to make the warty bits it is easy but a little time consuming the longest part is waiting for the GS to dry so you don't ruin your part.

I agree with your comments on the missiles, I do intent to have more sticking out than some ive seen but less than the chaos titan ML from forge world if I add more room around the missile it will offset the extra extrusion I hope.

iam working on the design of the new launcher it will be bigger but with less missiles I haver bought some 1/35 105mm shells which as luck would have it are about 3mm wide 105mm in scale is exactly 3mm real world.

thanks for the input on the tongue ive been messing around with blue tack tongue and cant get any to work so I think teeth it will be.

thanks sometimes you have to move backwards to move forwards, the first time I attacked the knight with a power tool and saw the results was a worry!

normally yes I do use wire however for some reason I couldn't get the pre create to bond to it, I just mixed up a duff batch it just crumbled when impacted

The tutorial is excellent and the effect, from so simple a process, is amazing!! I've been pondering how to convert my DV Chosen, and have thought about some Nurgley goodness and having seen your tutorial my mind is now made up. Great stuff!

glad you like it, it is simple and if you go wrong just wet the GS even it out and try again

I should have added a few tips though

keep your tools and GS wet with water don't want it to stick to the tools
for bigger warts (sticking out more press in around them more to create the height, don't press in the big tool further.
green stuff mixed with more blue is better for this type of work, I normally uis more yellow for sculpting, when I did years ago

ive attached a pic of this on a zombie from a plague cart conversion I did as you can see ti doesn't over power it (in my opinions and I can only imagine the chosen are large figures.

good luck and id love to see your results

hi

so another busy evening of green stuffing and now gluing I've finished the two leg pads and head and torso. iam happy enough with the fish head finally, it isn't perfect but don't think I can do better.

I hope to have the missile launcher built and the side gun mounting changed tomorrow I've started nurgling the back but trying to figure out what to do before I carry on.

let me know what you think.

cheers

so today I have managed to finish the missile launcher build ready for sanding and then nurgling, I am much happier with this attempt and oddly unlike the first I immediately got to filling gaps etc. I guess I sub consciously knew the first one wasn't right.

I also changed the angle of the two side guns and again much happier with them

I have however been unable to do anything else today which is a bit annoying as I am back to work tomorrow and had hoped to have this warden finished by the end of the holiday, ho hum

anyway I hope you like it.

thanks

ok so I don't have much time int he week but ive done some on my warden, unfortunately ive over written the original pictures but on the back and sides a more noticeable amount of rot etc this si from looking at the forgeworld GUO online and also the plague drones. there's still al ot to do.

I have also added my space marines in a stomach/boil, I knew this was possible and after reading this post http://greenstuffindustries.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/sculpting-yummy-marine-in-giant-stomach.html

I have attempted a organic/mechanic gut hanging out iam not sure about it yet so not finished it off.

I have also bought about 10 different sized blunt syringe needles to make more realistic boil skin which I have used but not certain if it spoils the effect. time will tell

anyway hope you like and as always any ideas, comments or questions just let me know.

Looks interesting, skin looks great, but its a bit hard to work out where on the model this is, zoom out!

ok so its almost done the nurgle warden just needs his legs doing and the rust effect adding to all the metal.

I hope you like the pictures, again any comments or questions gratefully received.

I have started to think about my next knight, iam running short of green stuff so may have to start before finishing this one, depends how long it takes to get resupplied.

anyway the new forgeworlds knigths made me think since they are hardly based on old knights what if I got a knight built by nurgle rather than corrupted, iam however nto hit by any inspiration what weapons would they have, if anyone has any iedas I would love to hear them

thanks

Don't know how I've missed all these updates but the Warden looks fantastic. Really like the skin and the lumpy and guts hanging out all look incredible and very professional. Very impressive.

One of the ideas I've had for one of my Chosen conversions is to have him tall and thin. Quite often Nurgle models are fat and bloated so I see the emaciated and starved famine look as wide open for exploitation in a Nurgle model. With that in mind, some of the Forge World Knights are quite a bit taller than the regular GW Knight so, that could be an idea, something skeletal, with long tattered banners (I say banners, I don't know if a knight would suit a Grim Reaper style robe but ragged kill banners that look like tattered robes could work).

Obviously weapons wise a giant scythe immediately comes to mind. I've also seen an amazing Nurgle Lord of Skulls, maybe tanks like the Lord of Skulls has attached to some kind of gun that spews bile/acid/rotten body parts and the like, some kind of giant vomit canon. Maybe a giant hopper with bodies being thrown in that get minced up and fired out? Maybe the Knight's CC weapon is some kind of giant daemonic conveyor belt that grabs up victims and then dumps them strait into the blender which feeds the ranged weapon?

hi gogsnik

thanks for the thoughts, some ideas to ponder, regarding the gaunt tall thin look, your right its rare I haven't seen it, it wouldn't be impossible to do, the easiest way (although not easy) would be to cut the legs at the knee joint and then adding another joint, I am not sure how it would look tall the other option is to do the warden conversion I posted the link to originally that is tall and slim.it would definatly look different from the other knights.

I was considering having the legs backwards like a warhound I have seen it done on youtube the same model that has a scythe.

I don't think I can get away from a vat or barrel feeding a gun it would be hard to get that organic diseased look without it, the only alternative would be tyranid type weapon, it needs to be organic.

I need to think about the weapon load out, theres lots of optiosn 2 ccw, 1 ranged and 1 ccw, guns on both arms, any of these but with a torso weapon as well. I am thinking 2 ccw and a toso gun would look cool, or maybe a knight with a 2 handed ccw and a torso cannon. mmm options.

Backwards jointed legs sounds interesting. I'm still a fan of a game called The Suffering and in the sequel one of the monster types is called a Gorger. The creature is basically a horribly twisted human, emaciated except for a distended gut and huge mouth. The legs were in braces and one or both of the legs could be backwards jointed, which looks pretty messed up since it's a human leg bent the wrong way. I could see something like that working for a Knight, with a leg twisted and damaged, with braces welded to the sides to keep it load bearing. It would be like Quovandius from Inquisitor.

ok so a poorly toddler has eaten (not literally) into my hobby time, I have had time to think about what i want to do and its come to me that I want to make a mechanical plague bearer or at least a knight inspired by one,

so to this end I ve chopped heightened and widened the model.

chopped the legs at the knees and repositioned them the knight's left leg is meant to be deformed and not working that well.

the knight will have a left arm that reaches the floor for support a twisted arm of course.

the gun will be on the right socket and will be a nurgle affair, fed by vets on the back, the model will be fat with a demon type head inspired buy the old gw art work for PB's to this end there will eb lots of venty things on top. the left foot will more likely look like a mutated elephant foot,

i attavh the first picture its all very early days and with a cold in the house may take a lot longer than i planned.

thanks for the suggestions Gogsnik, whilst this wont look like what you suggested your ides helped me finalise what i wanted to do.

I can see where you're going with it and big, long arm sounds very interesting. For some reason it has put in mind of Grendel from the 3D film.
