If you're just playing TOS/ENT ships perhaps that would work... but...

Spoiler:

That's before Dominion Dreadnoughts, Borg Cubes and so on...

I believe either 1/5000 or 1/9000 is the way to go, with a good deal of flexibility in each for sourcing all the models.

Also remember the Dominion Battleship in this image is the one used in that episode where the training cadets inexplicably have a defiant class they're attacking it with... The battleships at the battle of Cardassia were considerably larger, known as the Planetary Assault Ships...

The Son'a command ship is second down on the left.

I love new ship day
The Hirogen has a standard Klingonish dial, the Drone on the other hand is quite a nimble little thing, no red at all

On the disappointing side of things the Hirogen ship has no rear arc and apparently the Romulans knew how to build a ship with a rear arc but forgot how to do it for 80 some years and the Remans had to remind them

I can also confirm neither Karr or Valdor are admirals , oh well.

The drone was probably Reman constructed anyway. Enterprise episodes had Reman's stationed in the drone control center. Just because they made Valdore the figurehead Romulan for the show doesn't mean they didn't steal the design from their slave race.

In my own fragile mind I like to think that Nemesis never happened. The Tal Shiar would never let a slave cast have disruptors let alone starships. The Tal Shiar are always watching.

DS9 had a Federation operative serving as the head of the Tal Shiar near the end of the Dominion War, I imagine they were basically Starfleet Intelligence puppets by that point.

Sloan's account of the events were never confirmed. I have a difficult time believing that an organization that has existed for hundreds of years could be infiltrated by lowly humans. If anything I could see the Tal Shiar using Starfleet to eliminate political enemies or feed them false info. The life span of Vulcans/Romulans is a long time, they have decades to hatch out schemes that humans don't. Look at the plot in the TNG episode The Enemy. All the data they falsified just to test Jarok's loyalty. Or Selok, she was Romulan posing as a Vulcan diplomat for decades. No way humans could get something that big over on an organization that good, the Obsidian Order maybe but not humans.

Sloans character and actual level of influence was never really fleshed out in canon, so there are lots of room for interpretation. Again that's just how I look at it in my fragile mind.

The Tal Shiar were, like the Obsidian Order, royally screwed over following the disastrous Battle of the Omarion Nebula, although they rebuilt, they had lost a lot of top operatives and skilled staff.

The Remans were unleased as shock troops by the romulans and proved a match for the Jem Hadar, once armed and organised, putting that genie back in the bottle was impossible. The Tal Shiar were not up to that task.

A lot of people say that but it is never supported by the canon. There were only 40 some ships at the Omarian Nebula and half of them were Tal Shiar. There are references in "Face of the Enemy" and "Message in a Bottle" to the Tal Shiar having there own fleets. The Romulan empire is vastly bigger than the Cardassian Union and the Tal Shiar plays a much more open public role, so they have a much larger organization.

The large reason why the Obsidian Order was devastated was due to the fact that they didn't have any ships before. So they would have to crew them and given Tain's megalomania he probably put his best and most trusted people aboard. Also it is referenced that "Tain is the Order", after becoming head of the Order Tain created a situation where they couldn't survive without him. The Tal Shiar does not revolve around 1 person. They have chairman, vice chairman, commities plenty of people to fill a power vacuum. The Tal Shiar are more like an entire shadow government and the Obsidian Order are just a secret police type organization.

Assuming that this thread isn't solely for Sodoff to show off his latest prizes I'd like to post a few photos of my meagre collection. A few have been repainted other's I've not got round to yet or simply don't want to (the Gal Gath'thong)

Firstly my Romulans, love these guys even if I never seem to win games with them I will never give up being a sneaky backstabbing git.

Still need to get the Vo and Drone Ship, The latter is in the post as I type so hopefully that will arrive during the week. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the new named D'deridex and Valdore classes later this year.

Next the Eath/Federation ships:

Why yes that is the NX-01 in that little group. Never been a fan of Enterprise (the series that is ) but I always liked the design of the ship and I've got some other Enterprise era ships so I might as well have one. As for the rest well I had to get the Enterprise A and Reliant didn't I? and the Equinox I just picked up at random in a LGS. I do want more Fed ships at some point but I'm not sure what to get first.

Finally the odd ball ships:

Yep a quite strange mix there, I do quite like the Vulcan ships and I reckon combined with the NX-01 I've got a nice little Enterprise era fleet that will be completely outclassed by everyone I go up against because they all play TNG/DS9 era stuff. The Bajoran Interceptor is really good fun. Again outclassed by pretty much everything but it will distract your opponent from your important stuff simply because it's an annoying little thing.

Nice looking fleets I am happy to see that we have another Romulan player in out midst, being sneaky is is what we're best at Don't feel bad about a few losses, the more you play the more you'll get the hang of them. I mostly stick to Romulans & Klingons myself. Every time I play Federation it's like Wolf 359 all over again , but I keep trying with them.

Do I spy a repaint on that Reliant , nice keep them coming.

Please keep us all updated as your fleets grow. I started the thread for it to be like the X-Wing "Your Fleets After a Year", but not many people sharing, so I have just been trying to keep the thread going. I would love for more Dakka Trekkers to share their fleets, their custom, conversions, repaints, terrain, etc. And I know some of you have made space stations, so share those puppies

To be fair to myself I never seen to lose really badly, it just tends to boil down to me making the wrong move or my luck running out at a critical moment.

You do indeed, I'm planning on eventually repainting most of my Fed ships (why are they blue?). The D'deridex, Science Vessel and Valdore have also been repainted but it's less noticeable on them unless you put them next to an unpainted one.

Well I'm sure I'll be able to keep providing photos of my new toys given the rate I'm buying ships at the moment.

Hey there dakka Trekkers. Yesterday was quite a day, first my birthday present from my wife and sons arrived they love me

Then the mail man brought me more stuff I bought another micro machine Enterprise for another constitution class on TOS nights. A special shout out to Inmygravenimage for hooking me up with another Haakona in a trade I also broke down and finally bought the Pagh on eBay. I didn’t want to but it was only $20. This is the first time I had to resort to eBay for a prize ship. Up until now I had 3 OPs a month, but sadly now I am down to only 2. I decided to go for it because one of my MoH OPs is indefinably postponed and the other isn’t until the end of the month

I thought I would share some interesting things I found out with this round of reinforcements.

First off is some fun news for Kazon fans, maybe I’m the only one, but here it is anyway. The Haliz crew actually comes with captain tokens for when he takes over the ship. I just think that is awesome. We have a bunch of this type of crew now that take over for the captian, but Haliz is the first to have his own tokens. Another Kazon captain is very appreciated

Also I have seen a lot of talk online about the prize DS9 being different from the retail. There are actually very few differences. Here are the ship tokens from both. The one on the left is from the retail pack. It is made out of the same cardboard as the regular ships. On the right is the one that came with the OP prize. They are the exact same size and have the same arcs. The prize one is made of a thick card stock, about cereal box thickness. It also laminated so it holds up better to being moved around the table, because for some reason on the DS9 the token goes under the base instead of on top like regular ships.

The models themselves are identical except for the paint job. Here is the prize. This paint job is probably the best WK has ever done It reminds me of the stuff FF does for X-Wing. I usually don’t care about the paint jobs, but this thing just looks awesome. The detail of the model really comes out on this one.

This is the retail model. It isn’t a bad paint job, but defiantly not as good as the prize. It is more metallic then the prize and no shading.

The ones in the back are the prizes and the front is the retail. One interesting plus on the retail is it appears that the pylons are glued on. It is nice because on the prize they were a bit of a pain to put on and they can come loose sometimes. Once my desktop with the printer is back up and running I am going to make some dials for the prize versions. I am thinking if my TO is cool with it, it would be really fun to have Terok Nor and Empok Nor in Peak Performance. My wife wants to play a big game with all 3. Having 3 is nice because I have 2 sons, they are little now but very interested in “daddy’s space ships”. When they get older I will have one for each of them and one for myself.

Hopfully these shots were helpful for anyone interested in the DS9. I’m thinking this weekend if I get a chance I will update my 1st post in this thread. Those pics were way back from the end of Collective 3 a lot of expanding since then, especially the Romulans and MU. My wife says I am living proof of that “mistakes were made” comic

PS
Inmygravenimage,
Again nice looking paint on that Galor

On the prize DS9, is it wise to glue the pylons in place? They don't seem to stay very well at all.
