Hi there peeps.

SO i have been playing Orks since end 5th ed. I was quite a decent player with our green friends. I used to win 3/5 games on average. (got about 4k points of these guys)
But since the new codex arrived i have won a single game. I have played about 10 games now and the only army i managed to win against were the Tyranids.
Against ANY shooty army i get shot off the board like crazy. Against Tau i finally made my first kill in 3 matches and ofc still lost horribly.

I feel that without the invul saves we have lost our resilience in CC. Yeah the feel no pain with our painboyz is nice but hey,.... str8 weapons everywhere! Ap4,3,2 everywhere!

I need some guidance towards a semi competitive list.. I am losing the will to play with my Orks and i dont want that. I love these guys. Lootas just cannot do all the work for me.
I am trying to get a decent strategy going by reading through this forum but there is sooo much to read...

Mek with KFF is our best defense against range, possibly the only defense.

Another idea is to get some fast attack to distract the enemy,
alot of people will tell you to spam bikes with a painboy; I say just use a few and a dakkajet , I play with friends and not tournments. List like that are no fun to use for me

The other day I played a Eldar player, and had 10 gitz in a battlewagon with badrukk, They killed everything!
That would cost about 440 at the very least though, but still very fun.

Lobbas also make great long range support, against tau it does wonders. But you will need a few squad to get good results.

Battlewagons and Manz are good to have also, they will wreck almost anything they come in contact too.

I think the biggest problem is shift in power. Things that used to be strong and the focal point of an army are now not that, and things that used to be weak are now useful.

Like nob bikers. Those guys used to be tough-as-nails and hard to kill. Well, not so much anymore. I say downgrade those nob bikers to warbikes and just rely on their dakkaguns and ability to get in to melee quickly to tie up a shooty unit.

Battlewagons still work well and it looks like rokkit buggies are making a comeback as well. 75 pts for 3 TL rokkits on an outflanking fast platform with a total of 6 hull points.

I am still trying to figure out the best loadout for boyz but heres what I roll with for my troop choice

20 shoota boyz, 2 big shootas, nob, PK = 180
20 shoota boyz, 2 big shootas, nob, PK = 180
Battlewagon w/ deff rolla and 2 big shootas = I forgot, 135 maybe?
Battlewagon w/ deff rolla and 2 big shootas = I forgot, 135 maybe?

And then I stick a warboss on a bike with regular or nob bikers, or a big mek with a kff in a trukk (or third battlewagon depending on points) behind the wagons.

I really need to get making some mek guns, because when i proxied them, they worked out very well.

Hi there. Welcome to Dakka.

Compare that with Eldar war Walkers.
They can outflank and come in squadrons of 3.
But their twin weapons and 5+ inv save comes in at 60 points EACH. Before weapon upgrades.

As for Boyz, it looks like you need to get them in cover somehow, or in transports.
Either that, or keep them back.

Well I think comparing our units to Eldar is kind of irrelevant. And like you said they are 60 pts each whereas I can get 3 buggies for 75 points. If the buggies get shot at by any decent size unit its earned its points by just distracting them.

I would recommend painboyz over KFF meks. I play with a KFF mek normally, to get Da Finkin' Kap, but painboyz do a great job keeping the boyz moving forward.

Battle wagons, bikes, and meganobz are all our great units now. If you aren't including some of at least two of these choices, you will likely struggle to do well in really competitive games.

Painted armies:

Orks: 11000 points
Marines: 9500 points
Khorne Marines: 2500 points
Khorne Demons: 1500 points

Depends on what forces you have.
Maybe you could write your list.

I've been running a large mob with 'eavy armor and a painboss, plus a nob with klaw and hanging with the warboss. The armor has been a real help to them. In conjunction with the painboy, they are almost as resilient as a big squad of Necrons, which has really impressed me. It does make them spendier, but tarpitting is a lot easier and getting a good solid charge with enough boyz to knock something out is great. Mitigates the occasional damage taken on the Mob Rule too.

Shoota boys your choice of Mek with kustom Force Field and Painboys are grand.

Lootas are great for the volume of shots at S7 so is worth looking at.

Koptas with TL missiles are great for hurting things, toughness and multiple wounds help too, can be a great shooting soak in a pinch (or tie up units in melee).

Burna-boys in a vehicle with Mek upgrades can help with torching units to death and keeping their ride alive.

Those are the units that stand out the most to me.

Only problem now is that when embarked in a vehicle, the KFF on confers the cover save to the vehicle it's in, not like before unfortunately.

Why the deff rollas? WYSIWYG?

Many of the old stars of the codex have fallen (or remained the same) while the entire rest of the codex has risen in power and effectiveness. Especially lootaz, nob bikers and boyz have lost little, but the are still getting replaced by other choices in many lists. The also are a few bombs in the codex, like the Stikk MA Warboss (pretty much Thrakka 2.0), war bikers, tank bustaz or mek gunz which can single-handedly revive and old list back to its old glory.

Otherwise, pretty much what the others said. Post your list, and we'll help you fix it

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Well the problem is that i dont realy have a standard list anymore.

I usually play around 1750-2k games.

I used to run Green tide in 5th, that got kinda destroyed in 6th for me, but was manageable.

Since 7th/new codex i then pretty much make a loota gunline of 2x10 Lootas. And a squad of 2-3 Lobbas which provide the much needed covering fire. I am thinking of stocking up an extra 10 lootas. I also recently started using 2 dakkajets. Other than that... well... i am in the dark..

I have tried many variations with little to no succes. So any help from that point on would be nice since i realy have trouble finding the strong points in the new ork dex.. What i dont have i can buy.

I usually play against, Crons, Tau (ff these bastards ), SM, SW, and 2 Nid players with very different platying styles.

Thanks so far
