Are Ork bosspoles worth it now? Since you can only reroll "born to fight", and "squabble", it seems like you could run with out it and not notice much difference. Mob rule will still be causing wounds even with the re-roll 5/6 times. Thoughts?

Its just five points and it might just save your arse. I take them all the time. That re-roll on mob table is a real good thing.
The goal isn't to re-roll so it doesn't cause wounds. The wounds it causes still aren't that bad because you still have to roll you wound, and that's a 50/50, then you get your t-shirt/armour/painboy save.
The goal is for the re-roll to turn up one of the parameters you currently meet so it turns a unit that would be running away into a unit that isn't. I've had in total maybe 4 out of dozens of failed morale checks actually fail the whole way through and break.
Maybe its just me, but in my opinion boss poles are one of those things (like rams on trucks) that are just auto-include in the army.

I think they're still worth it. Lost melleeб you're lower than 10 models, didn't pass morale and rolled 4-6? you got better chances not to run with a reroll. If you're over 10 models and have a character in there? Well, you can reroll in hopes of getteng a 1 and not recieve d6 s4 hits. You're footslogging a helhuge squad and get pinned? I bet you want to reroll that 1 on the mob rule now.

The goal of the BP is not rolling a "better" mob rule result, but passing tests in the first place. Failing moral or pinning always takes out your unit for at least one round of the game, if not more. Mob rule pretty much trades d6 hits for automatically passing moral checks. A boss pole increases your chance to pass those tests you failed by at least 33%. If even a single unit passes moral due to a boss pole and isn't sweeped, you've paid for all the boss poles of your army that very second.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.

Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.

BP are a must take, even in 7th. You just want to pass the Ld test, even if that cost you 1-2 boyz.

You might want to pass on bosspoles if you're running your main from Ghazzy supplement with large squads cause they can't roll a 1 and the odds of not getting what you might want are much lower.

In the old book, Bosspoles did practically nothing for me. In the new book, Bosspoles have saved me a lot from running away from battle since I run small squads of trukk boyz.
Having a bosspole when you have fewer than 10 boyz in your mob is well worth it.
If you are running larger squads of boyz, then I would say they are less worthwhile.

youre probably the only person to say the exact opposite most people complain about then, unholyflama lol. so many people deem the new bp as useless because we lost the reroll from it. well, theres a nice little nitch to being able to ignore the failed test and just take a few hits - melee combat, where we lost and now need 3s or snakeeyes lol. A reroll doesnt really help when you need snakeeyes, now does it? I have had a lone nob from a boy squad keep a full droppod of .... goddamn it forget their exact names lol space wolves guys with 2base attacks, countercharge, and two combat weapons. Anyway, i killed 4 marines he killed like 16 boyz since he also had his IC in there with the axe of insane amount of attacks. Only the nob survived, failed tests, rolled a 2 on mobrule, cant allocate to a character and says nothing about a lone character so the ONE NOB locked down his nasty melee unit during his turn and opened them up for shootin' in my turn lol. Ohh the bp was epic, since i had to reroll a 5.

Everyone seems to be leaning towards that bosspoles are worth taking in 7th to ensure that you aren't running away. Don't see how my experiences are different from a number of individuals in the thread. I never had good luck with bosspoles in the old book and questioned them but in the current book, they have kept me from running away from combat (and most likely getting swept) more times than I can count already.

ma bad, llama lol.
i meant people in general complaining about the bp, not this thread. i was kinda in a rush to type that and get back to class that apparently was cancelled lol.
Any time i hear someone complain about the bp its the "lack of the reroll on morale" that they care about. Big deal i say, i find it more useful now not less. Though it would be nice to have it affect Fear checks...since fear seriously pisses me off nowadays (not saying theoretical either, most of the battles i have severe issues theres a couple MC's running around or im against daemons/something else with fear and it ALWAYS jacks me up).

Can you ELI5 the difference between fear and a moral check after losing a combat? is a leadership check the same thing? (25% casualties from shooting)

Leadership check is the general rule referring to checking ones leadership, regardless of the reason. Unless it specifically says Leadership check, each times you roll for your check its a specific kind of test, or specific reason you are testing.
Morale is losing a battle or 25% casualties in one turn.
Fear is a Fear test
Pinning is a Pinning test
to my knowledge there arent any specifically titled tests other than that. Mob rule does not say leadership, it says morale and pinning. meaning any general Leaderships (such as Psyker tests as those say Leadership) or Fears are unaffected.
Thats why fear hurts. We are LD7 unless a Warboss is in the unit, and we are melee orientated. Fear is a melee nerfbat ability. Every other army is either immune to it (atsknf or fearless), high leadership, or dont really suffer from it because theyre so bad in melee as it is it doesnt really matter if they fail. Orks crappy leadership lets them fail it more than everyone else, and it actually DOES something to us.
