It's best to determine if it's a mannequin head before you open fire at crazy people on street corners. Sadly, in this particular case, it was not.

Minus the *genuine* severed head, I actually saw someone do this in Pittsburgh once, though it was Christ being invoked and no additional bomb threat was made.

I think though that this has more to do with madness than Islam, considering she was screaming she'd blow herself up without any actual bombs.

We're not living in the Middle Ages anymore. There are no more Crusaders. Mainstream Christianity went through centuries of reform and restraint thanks to secularization. Islam has not, and is largely still the same Medieval religion that was in the Middle Ages (when it was just as brutal as Christianity, mind you).

Do not equate Modern Islam to Medieval Christianity.

That's not even close to what I think. I'm a realist. I realize that every faith, creed, and philosophy has it's good people and it's dirtbags. I no more blame Islam for ISIS than I blame Christianity for Tomás de Torquemada. I do look at refugees from Syria and think they should be helped, though it's not what some people would call safe, neither is rushing into a burning building, or throwing themselves on grenade, to save someone else, yet we call those that do 'heroes'.

Indeed, it's more accurate instead to compare it to modern Christianity, as both religions have a very tiny minority (less than 1%) of its member-base that commits atrocities, while the remaining 99.9% go about their ordinary lives raising families, working jobs and paying taxes.

Pretty much what many western countries are doing-contain the extremists, and try to entice those on the fringes to not embrace such poisonous ideology. Our drone strikes do as much harm as "good" according to former CIA Director Michael Hayden. So fighting fire with fire isn't always the best course of action. It is satisfying, for sure. But it doesn't necessarily solve the problem.
