Hi guys, looking at the wolf lords equipment options would running him on a thunder wolf in runic armour armed with a thunder hammer and wolf claw be a good choice.
He has the option of being strength 10 AP 2 or strength 6 AP 3 rending striking at initiative, while also getting +1 attack for having two specialist weapons.
Or would he be better off with a pair of wolf claws or thunder hammer and storm shield. OR have I missed an awesome weapon combo all together?

That seems like a pretty good load-out to me (although quite expensive). He will be slightly cheaper with a pair of Wolf claws (you would then have to rely on the Rending conferred by the Thunderwolf to get at armored targets). I would personally choose a Powerfist instead of the Thunder hammer to keep costs down (but I guess it depends what targets you're going after).

Helm of Durfast is a nice option to get rerolls of the hit rolls. If you're running a Lord from a Company of the Great wolf detachment, Fellclaw's Teeth will be even better because it's cheaper and gives the same effect for a melee lord.

The storm shield is a bit unnecessary I think, he already comes with 4++ save so paying extra to make that 3++ and lose an attack (and versatility) seems like a bad option to me. Join him up with a Thunderwolf cavalry unit with SS instead (or, in small point games, run him with 2 wolves).

It depends on how many points you're willing to invest in him. This is a very expensive build but it crazy good.

Lord, thunderwolf, black death, Wulfen stone, plasma pistol, runic armour, Helm of durfast.

To keep costs down I'd drop the Helm and the pistol to a normal bolt pistol. But there you have a plasma with ignores cover along with a potential 10 attacks on the charge at S8 ap2.

You sought to cower behind your walls, weakling? Instead, by the will of Khorne, you shall die behind them

Isn't there a relic weapon which is AP2 that lets him strike at Initiative? I'd take that, or the other relic which reduces the opponent's initiative. It would be a shame for your Wolf Lord to go last in CC

If you use the champions of fenris force org (1 HQ 2 Elite) you have access to the krakenbone sword which is an ap2 master crafted frost sword. The flipside is if you run standard, you get the option for the -5 initiative runic armor.

I like the powerfist/wolf claw option. Right now I am trying to figure out a cool conversion that would be a mix of the two for a homebrew relic. point cost and wargear would still be fist+claw though. I just think it looks weird for a dude to have a claw and fist while riding a wolf.

I like Runic Armour, Black Death, Thunderwolf, Storm Shield, and I'm I'm running him with enough TWC, the Wulfenstone. A ton of attacks at S8 AP2 on the charge, a 2+/3++ save on 4 T5 wounds, and a good force multiplier for TWC as well.
