I'm trying to finalize my list for the MechaniCon GT next month, so that I can finish building and painting what I need! Here it is:

Flyrant - 2x TL-D's, Egrubs - 240
Flyrant - 2x TL-D's, Egrubs - 240

Malanthrope - 85

Crone - 155

3x Rippers - Deepstrike - 45
3x Rippers - Deepstrike - 45
3x Rippers - Deepstrike - 45
3x Warriors w/ Venom Cannon - 100

Tyrannofex - Acid Spray, Egrubs - 185
Tyrannofex - Acid Spray, Egrubs - 185
Mawloc - 140
Exocrine - 170
3 Biovores - 120

Bastion - Comms Relay- 95

1850

I have been thinking about my experience at AdeptiCon, and I just felt my ground elements were too weak. My hope is that the double Tyrannofexes can hold up a bit on the ground, supported by the Exocrine and Biovores. If they target the Tyrannofexes, it should allow the Exocrine and Biovores to shoot, and if they target the others, the Fexes will push forward aggressively and be a problem themselves.

The comms relay will hold the rippers off the board and bring the Mawloc on early. The Malanthrope will provide shrouded and synapse from inside the Bastion. I considered putting the warriors on top, but I think they might do better elsewhere to give me more synapse bubbles.

Thoughts appreciated!

I'll be at this event too, and if I were running Nids I would bring as many Flyrants as legally possible. Think about your matchups.

Knights (you don't care)

Serpents (you care, but it's better to be in the air than on the ground)

Gravstar (You care, but you've got tarpitters, and your ground monsters will get annihilated)

Drop pod gravcents with wolves (Again, in the air)

Beastpacks and/or Jetseer (Again, air is better)

Summoning Daemons and/or Screamerstar (Yup, you guessed it, air)

And my Tau (It doesn't matter!! Muwhahahahaha...I kid I kid)

With Mechanicon's virtual lack of listbuilding limitations and your access to rippers, you are literally only limited by your access to Flyrant models. If you can't borrow enough to max out, just stay in the air with additional Harpies and/or Crones.

THAT ALL BEING SAID, if you don't want to play an air force, I'd lose the Exocrine and bring anoter Mawloc. I'd also trade the Tyrannofexes for OS Tervigons.

Rule #1 is Look Cool.

Agree regarding max flyrants. I think a big issue you'll find with your list is the waves of attack, it makes target priority easier imo.

Exocrine and biovores are good and can put hurt on turn 1 along with the flyers, however the t-fexs are turn 2+ along with the mawloc. I think a single mawloc is a great idea to mess with people for the points but I'd rather find a few points for another crone and flyrant by dropping the t-fexs.

Looks pretty good! Personally I'd want some bubblewrap for the Big Bugs, but Deepstriking Rippers are dang good, and dang cheap. I like using Tyranofex as a "shiney model" myself. Good luck! And good hunting!

Just an FYI for those advising on his list, the event has no restrictions for list building other than it must be battleforged. Forge World, Stronghold and Escalation are in. Unlimited sources and detachments.

Don't listen to the "I kid." Even if he brings a good list he'll screw up strategically within the first 2 turns and you'll still get a crushing victory. Guy can't help but outthink himself.

That being said - the advice on matchups is very useful. I'm also going to this particular tournament and am running piles of centurions in a relatively goofy list. If you can spam flyers until the cows come home you'll be in a good spot. The biggest problem I see with the Tyrannofexes is dealing with invisibility. The acid spray is a template, correct? If I'm wrong on that, disregard all of this, but you'll effectively have two units that can't target your opponents main threats. Expect a ton of invisibility spam via Eldar and Demons. Your Exocrine and Biovores are also going to suffer from this particular item. Warriors are essentially garbage, but what can you do? It's definitely got some good monster mash concepts, but if you can get more bugs in the air I think you'll do far better than this current list. But, with that being said, it looks like a ton of fun to play. And you may never hit those crazy matchups, always the random joy of 40k tourneys.

Thanks very much for the tips, guys. It's great to hear from others who are attending the event!

I should have specified in the OP but I'm going for the best list I can but personally will not be taking advantage of a second CAD, because I am also building towards future events which don't all allow multiple CAD. That, and I like some variety in the list

Fear of the bugs on the ground being useless is what made me put in a second Tyrannofex and a Crone instead of 2 x Dakkafexes like I had planned originally. My thought is the Tyrannofex is much more survivable, and the Crone can help press early along with the Flyrants.

The waves of attacks is a very valid point, and any tactics advice on how to deal with that would be greatly appreciated!

I have gone back and forth on whether or not to add a barricade (or two) to the Bastion. Currently I don't have them in the list, but am painting up two just in case I decide to cut something to fit them in.
