Was going to bring this up in the Icestorm thread, but decided to start a new topic rather then threadjack it.

Although I haven't played with any Tags myself, my vote goes to the Jotum, because if I'm going to drop a ton of points into something, I should go big or go home. (hmm, SOMEONE'S looking forward to the Svalarheima sectoral...)

(Although Achilles gets an honorable mention, because he's basically a TAG.)

Orks - "Da Rust Gitz" : 3000 pts
Empire - "Nordland Expeditionary Corps" : 3000 pts
Dwarfs - "Sons of Magni" 2000 points
Cygnar - "Black Swan" 100 pts
Trollbloods - "The Brotherhood"
Haqqislam- "Al-Istathaan": 300 points
Commonwealth - Desert Rats /2nd New Zealand 1000 points

My vote is for none of the above All really depend on tactics and how you play. However if I have to pick most awesome it is the Avatar He has strategos l3, OOD, Arm 10, WIP 17, and BTS -9 as well as the sepistor get close and you have a cube and he will possess you.

Sepsitor is fun.

" It followed me home! Can I keep it? "
- Avatar.

Well in N3 there here will be breaker pistols, improved hacking rules, improved CC, K1 ammunition, improved shotguns, improved FO (curious, if we're going to see more GML), improved grenades (amazing for smoke, E/M doesn't look all that shabby), worse range on HMG... well, run Jotum all you want.

Marut, Avatar and Cutter for most bells and whistles for your points.

Nomad line and Anaconada for cost effectiveness.

The bad thing about all those TAGs though, especially the Avatar, is that if their chearleaders get killed then there are not enough orders for them to do anything.

It's marvellous, if they get the first turn. However two combat groups with some denial options gives me good chances to survive their rampage and strike back.

Down to it, I don't like expensive TAG options, even, if they're Avatar, Marut or Cutter. The game tends to turn into two case situations, the expensive models gets shut down or it wins the game.

I envy the low price of Anaconada and Gecko, wish I had something like this in my force.

Given all the things from N3 that seem to be taking the bite out of a lot of T.A.G.s, maybe many will be getting a points reduction when the rulebook drops?

That reminds me of the last big local tournament. A CA player misjudged his Caskuda's size, got 2 Blitzen AROs from 2 Geckos and had the most points-expensive Imetron in the event.

This makes sense. Right now they are expensive, and they are beatable, but require very specific weapons/strategies to beat. Cheaper TAGs would show up more often, but have a wider variety of counters, hopefully making for interesting gameplay.

It does not matter what is the best TAG. What matters is your plan for the TAG.

When you include a TAG, be ready to know how you want to use it. Having a plan of attack and how your other models will support the TAG is more important than anything else.

Otherwise they become expensive fodder for my Chasseur's Glue Gun and my Tankhunter's autocannon.

Jotum didn't lose any noticeable amount of points in Icestorm preview. Perhaps it's not the final edit, however I doubt we'll see any decrease in points for TAG. I'd like to be proven wrong.

Which TAG is the best...looking? The Anaconda of course.

Not sure how you managed to misspell J-O-T-U-M so badly there...

I'd have to go with the Caskuda. Anaconda's not even close to good.

If the caskuda was soooo good looking, they'd have sold more.

It's so good looking, that it's on the verge of extinction.

Iguana is pretty good looking after you dock the tail (because the only thing sillier than a gojira is a mecha-gojira.).

I like Scarface, Anaconda and the Geckos.
Maybe my Appleseed fandom is showing, but they're cheap, don't turn the game into 'kill the giant' and if they get blown up, it's not half your force.

And the Anaconda is BAMF looking.

Also, check out my history blog: Minimum Wage Historian, a fun place to check out history that often falls between the couch cushions.

The Anaconda doesn't carry its Spitfire. That's why it's my least favorite TAG I own.

If you play a game with "cheerleaders" that do nothing, then you deserve to lose.

Also, with its incredible stats, high MOV rating, and offensive weaponry, the Avatar doesn't need that many orders to get where it wants to. If it feels like it, it can just park on the other side of a wall and sepsitorize your guys.

That's going a bit far. It's not uncommon to have 2-3 grunts in a normal list whose job it is to stand in your deployment zone and watch odd approaches with ARO's. These cheerleaders don't 'do' anything, at least actively. It's not uncommon to have upwards of 5 cheerleaders when you have something like a Marut or Avatar eating up to half of your list in a single model.

I like the O-Yoroi and Lizard myself (looks wise).

I'm interested to see what they're doing for White Banner and if an updated Guijia comes though.

That's why I gave my Anaconda a gun I also agree with the O-yoroi and Lizard. Brutal.

I'll admit that from a rules perspective it's possibly sub-par (unless N3 gives it a boost somehow), and it doesn't have a model yet, but I think the Seraph has the potential to be the coolest-posed TAG... if they can capture the dynamic posing of some of the rest of the MO stuff (a TAG version of the Santiago Spitfire would be incredible).

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

Nice thing about the Mag guard? No SWC cost Nonetheless, My favorite TAG is the Tikbalang. Cheap and very effective, especially Eduardo (Toni Macayana's customized Tik)

Jotums is the best looking. Dragoe is second. But the new Mag guard will probably shame them both.

The lack of a Seraph is the main thing holding me back from MO. Melee TAGs (or "melee" TAGs more accurately) are the coolest gak in the game

That and a lack of 400pt games at my club. These guys really need to be able to bring HI links to make the most of their sectorial benefits!

Avatar is nasty and so is the Caskuda. Although I think the Raicho is the best looking CA tag.

As far as cheerleaders, in CA these are usually 5 point Pretas with chain rifles and anti-personnel mines which are far from useless in-game. Take the Oznat for link team and you get 5 regular orders for 41 points. You can hide the the Oznat and speculative fire her LGL while the Avatar rambo happens. Alternatively, Ikadron batroids and daturazi are common too.
