Still legal?

Thinking specifically of the SAG Battery (http://img.4plebs.org/boards/tg/image/1392/90/1392909576739.pdf).

I know Apoc is usually "anything goes" and "rule of cool", but I want to make sure this or that edition of rules doesn't invalidate it.

Orks - "Da Rust Gitz" : 3000 pts
Empire - "Nordland Expeditionary Corps" : 3000 pts
Dwarfs - "Sons of Magni" 2000 points
Cygnar - "Black Swan" 100 pts
Trollbloods - "The Brotherhood"
Haqqislam- "Al-Istathaan": 300 points
Commonwealth - Desert Rats /2nd New Zealand 1000 points

I would say as long as new rules don't compeltely invalidate it- then its fair game. Apoc is meant to be casual anyway so 'legal' isn't really appropriate.

I'm a bit perplexed by the Assassin apoc formation, which is now a not-as-good regular formation.. hmm...

No.

Only formations from new apoc book, warzones, white dwarf and IA and IAA2013 are lgal.

But you can ask game organizer. He has the right to prevent any formation

Vanished Completely

More and more 'apocalyptic' things have become 'vanilla' in this Edition, it is something to simply accept when it occurs.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

Wow that is an old one. But my game group just had their annual Big Game huge event last Feb and one of the guys used this formation, after getting permission from the event organizer, of course. I don't think he even used the Apocalyptic Barrage rule, just the one in which you sacrifice a few snotling bases for a better Str roll. Works just fine in 7th in my opinion (we were still in 6th at the time; same idea). In fact even the points for a SAG Mek haven't changed with this newest codex.

In my opinion, the 7th edition rules for building an army list seem to encourage this formation to be legal (though a little cheesy) in a 'normal' one-on-one game. Obv ask permission from your opponent first, so YMMV. Not much more insane than the Mogrok's mekboyz formation from the Red Waaagh.
