Hey guys, I'm playing in the Michigan GT next month and am trying to finalize my list. Using a CAD with skyblight (can only take one CAD and no self ally).Thoughts?
Hive Tyrant: twin-linked devourer with brainleech worms; twin-linked devourer with brainleech worms; wings; electroshock grubs 240
Hive Tyrant: twin-linked devourer with brainleech worms; twin-linked devourer with brainleech worms; wings; electroshock grubs 240
3 Ripper Swarms: Deep Strike 45
3 Ripper Swarms: Deep Strike 45
1 Zoanthrope 50
1 Venomthrope 45
1 Lictor 50
Hive Crone 155
3 Biovores 120
Hive Tyrant: twin-linked devourer with brainleech worms; twin-linked devourer with brainleech worms; wings; electroshock grubs 240
Hive Crone 155
Harpy: twin-linked heavy venom cannon 140
Harpy: twin-linked heavy venom cannon 140
10 Gargoyles 60
10 Gargoyles 60
10 Gargoyles 60
1,845 points
Unfortunately i have nothing to spend the 5 points on. Zoanthrope sits back with the Biovores to provide synapse and generate a few extra WC's. Flyrants do their thing. I upgraded the Harpies with HVC since I have the Biovores for infantry. The lictor is there to help bring down gargoyles/swarms if I need to saturate a spot. There will be at least two modified maelstrom missions that he could DS onto an objective. He is also there to threaten a Thunderfire Cannon/small backfield holders. Venom is for turn 1 protection for my FMC. Thoughts?

Pretty much standard skyblite list. Though I have seen some really good results from a 3 man unit of Zoanthropes with warp lance

Besides survivability, what's the point of running a 3 man Zoan squad? For the 100 pts, you still have the same number of Warp Charges and powers that you can cast. Do you think that the single lictor is worth it? I know he's not an all star, but for 50 pts he gives a lot of options for me.

Alright, biovores did mesh well with my other units, and the Zoan was a waste just sitting in the back with them. Lictor was nice to DS without scattering and grabbing objectives, but worthless other than that. Dropped the biovores and lictor and came up with these two lists:
List 1:
Hive Tyrant: devourer's, E grubs 240

I like list two a little better...it's hard not to love twin Mawlocs. But it does look dangerously short on Synapse to me... I dunno exactly where to find more though... Turning a Mawlock into a Malanthrope would add some durable Synapse, and blunt Alpha strikes as well...? Then buy more DS Rippers ? If Malanthrope is not an option, Zoey+ Veno is a poor bugs replacement. And does about the same...at a higher cost...

Ya I really like list 2 as it fits the theme... Everything is flying in or tunneling after you! The tourney is in 4 weeks from today so while the Malanthrope is allowed, I'd have to order it and the book ( if the wife agrees...) and get it in time. Might be tough. The though of a malanthrope and and exocrine chillin in some ruins in my backfield sounds tempting though...

Would it be worth it to drop electrogubs somewhere for heavy venom cannons on the harpies?

It my first list I used HVC's since I had Biovores. With Biovores gone, I put the STC back in to kill blobs. I didn't have much luck with the HVC, as the small blast is hard to still hit after a scatter, and even then without low AP it generally just stripped a hull point and shook the tank. Do you think dropping the E grubs on one of the tyrant is worth it for 2 HVC? The E grubs are just So. Damn. Good.

Keep E-Grubs, they can deny cover saves (Farsight/Shadowsun drones have a 4+ armor rather than 2+ cover) and with clever positioning, you can get multiple vehicles. Only reason to drop EGrubs would be if you're upgrading a Mawloc to a Dakkafex or similar. Those Stranglethorn Cannons are TL and cause Pinning which when it goes off, is going to help your Gargoyles and Gliding Monstrous Creatures

Uhh... That's not how it works. They are brotherhood of psykers, so only get one shot per group, not one shot a piece unfortunately.

Valor, in the Tyranid codex is state that the weapon profile gets an additional shot for every additional zoanthrope. So a Warp lance fired fro ma group of 3 is three shots.

Lol I have no idea how I have never caught that. That is why I've always ran them in breeds of 1. I stand corrected, thank you!

You're right, our lists are quite similar . I really like this second version! A scary amount of flying bugs, and the two Mawlocs should complement the others quite nicely. I may steal it someday
I'm personally a bit torn on whether adding a Malanthrope is worth it because you have to lose a big bug to add one or two of it in, and in your list basically every available point is going in to more big bugs! With 7 FMC and 2 tunneling ones, I don't know that I would change a thing!
A Malanthrope would also be very exposed on it's own, so you'd probably need 2 of them (or I'm trying 1 in a Bastion). So, I think it might be better to max out on threats in the list instead, as you have it here.

Not true, Nids get "special snowflake" powers. So Warp Blast/Lance gets one shot per Zoey...

So I got my first game in with this list (sorry I don't know how to do a "spoiler")
I was extremely happy with it. I played a nasty Demon Flying Circus (Fateweaver, Lord of Change with Grimoir, Belakor, 2 Demon princes, 2 units of Pink horrors, and a unit of cultists). I was able to kill everything, including summoned Screamer units, except for the two normal demon princes while losing 2 tyrants, both harpies (they landed to grab objectives) a crone, and one unit of gargoyles. My list provided to many tough units for him to kill, and all of my Deepstriking OS units won the game for me (was a maelstrom/kill point primer mission for the tournament). One Mawloc came in turn 2 and landed on his Lord of Change and did two wounds, only to be put into ongoing reserve The Mawlocs and Harpies didn't do much as he didn't have targets for them, but they provided nice objective grabbers. The Crones were beasts with their D3 Str8 VS against his dudes. After I lost two of my three tyrants, the lack of synapse didn't effect me much because most of my units don't really do negative stuff when they fail IB tests (I think I passed a total of 5 IB tests for my lead 5 rippers lol). All in all, the list did great against arguably the "top" flying circus list. I've now successfully taken out a knight (only a single knight...) list, dual wraithknight list, and now a flying cricus. Only big thing I haven't faced is flyer spam (Necrons...), but with the Tyrants and Crones I don't see any issue with them.
