Subject: Mastery level vs number of powers cast per turn

Hey guys and gals, rules question here. I've always assumed after reading the rule book that a psyker can only cast a number of spells per turn= to or less than their mastery level and the point of having additional powers would be to allow for tactical decisions. However, after going back and reading the rule book after watching a bat-rep online, I'm a bit stumped. Per BRB: "The number of psychic powers a Psyker can use each turn depends on his Mastery Level." which at first, makes sense that mastery level three would only cast three, however, later in the psychic text it states, "If, After attempting to manifest a psychic power, you still have Warp Charge points left, you can attempt to manifest another psychic power with the same unit... but no unit can attempt to manifest the same psychic power more than once per Psychic Phase." Which is confusing the hell out of me. Am I overthinking this? Or if you're lucky enough with your die roll on the start, could a Psychic focus level three psyker be able to use a huge number of spells?

Yes, you can cast as many times as powers you know, and war charge you generate. Both of these are related to mastery level

Yes you can attempt to manifest all of your powers once each in a phase Warp Charge allowing. As WC and number of powers you know are both dependent on your Mastery Level the number of powers you can attempt to manifest is dependent on your Mastery Level (amongst other things).

That is one theory. (and the one I believe is the intent of the rules) but the rules are not as clear as they should be on this topic.

Actually FlingitNow's post follows the current RaW 100%.

The rules are actually 100% clear on this subject.

No, they are not. When the rules state that the number of powers you can use is dependent on the ML, and then never provides the actual relationship, that is *not* being "100% clear". Please note that the original statement was not a throw away fluff line, they put it in bold. And it doesn't say how many they *know* depends on the ML level, but how many they can *use*.....
I agree with the way you play it, and feel it is our only option with what information we have available. But to believe it is "100% clear" is just wishful thinking...

Personally, I consider the ordered list in "Resolving the Psychic Phase" to be authoritative. The sentence that says that the number of psychic powers you may manifest per turn comes at the very start of the section where introductory concepts and vague outlines are presented.
I think that if they had meant for the ML level to be considered specifically, independent of the number of powers known, when determining how many powers a psyker may manifest, then they would have included it in the procedures to follow when manifesting a psychic power.
