When I intend to charge a unit of long fangs camping on the second floor of a ruin with my shining spears should I measure the charge distance into a straight line to them (because they ignore terrain) or do they behave like normal infantry and have to spend 6'' moving up. Also, can I put them in a lower floor directly below them if it is physically impossible to place the base? or by correct unit placing he can effectively make his troops impossible to assault due to not being able to reach BTB.

Seriously, 7th edition terrain rules are almost nonexistent, I'm tired of spending so much time in every game trying to decipher how does cover work. By the way do MC who keep one feet in a ruin still get a 4+ cover save?

Do any of you know some place where I could find some clarifications or some unified terrain rule set?

Nos1001 is right, use a hypotenuse.

Yes, he can douche his way out of getting assaulted. This works especially well against big based models like WraithKnights, DreadKnights, Mawlocs, etc.

Fluff-wise, I like it, makes sense.. If the guy is standing at the wall's edge while you run up from the ground ....

Smaller infantry prolly *can* go under the ruins, and then up, but this could open up, "Hey, man, that's not the shortest route" counter argument. I'm more of a 'do what's sportsmanly and fun' kind of player.

I would disagree. Terrain is decently defined in this edition. Page 37 will be your source on the MC 'toe in' question. For vehicles, page 77, second bullet.

Page 108 is a good read, too.
