My plan is to paint my canis wolfborn and his pack of wolves as a a pack of german shepherd (started as an inside joke but i dig the idea now!)

Heres the picture i used as a reff

The colours I plan to use (all citadel)

Abaddon black for the back
Fire dragon bright for the cream parts
and kislev flesh for the belly and hind legs back

Though? Any suggestion which color might be more suited? Im trying to keep it fairly simple since im no gold demon artist!

Thanks!

I'm not sure I would use Fire Dragon Bright. I would actually just use Kislev Flesh on all the cream type colors and use different washes on parts you want to be slightly different and give each a different highlight color. Fire Dragon Bright seems like it'll just look odd. Unless that's what you're going for

What is best in life? To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women. Grrr.

Personally I'd use fire dragon and kislev as base colours, at most. Those, or tau light ochre and ungor flesh. Then highlight to ungor flesh and ungor + white for the tan parts, and white for the lighter belly and leg areas.

I'm sooo, sooo sorry.

Yeah, on the site it seemed much more dull and pale than in real life.

I found a really good way to try and figure out what colours you need is to import the image in to GIMP image editor (free open source image editor) and use the Color Picker Tool, tell it to "sample average" and set an appropriate radius (if you only sample a point it's hard to get a guesstimate of what you actually need).

The darker brownish areas of the dog are approximately this colour:

The darker parts of the creamy areas are approximately this:

So look for paints that match those swatches. I would say based on GW's colour swatches, Skrag Brown is probably the closest out of the pot to the brownish colour... but I don't trust GW's colour swatches, I have no idea what Skrag Brown looks like when it's actually painted.

Out of Vallejo's range, the closest to the brownish areas is the Model Colour "Orange Brown". You can use this to get an estimate of what Vallejo colours might be close:

The creamy colour to me looks like Rakarth Flesh, but that might be a bit too faded, I dunno. I'd be tempted to start from something darker and work my way up.

They are one big gradient;

Pallid wych flesh > VMA Sand > VMA sandy brown > black

Don't forget the heckles

I had also planned on doing this but in the colors of wolves which come in a variety of shades. Too many others things going on to make it happen myself but I would love to see you make it happen ! It will be much easier to do with an airbrush.

Welcome! Though I should've said, it is kinda limited by this bit:
