Initially I discounted the Dread mob. It involves taking quite a bit of stuff that isn't very good, and bunching it all together. However, the models are finding their way into my hands.

I usually play at 1850 meaning that there is little room for anything else in this list, and a Warboss is critical to WAAAGH! for the extra charge range.

I find myself struggling to build an 1850 list that utilizes the Dread Mob that feels good. Has anyone used this formation effectively? Is it as bad as my first instincts led me to believe? Are there wargear / support choices that seem superior?

To help illustrate my questions, here is my latest draft of a 1850 list built around the Dread Mob.
Spoiler:
CAD:
Warboss (MA, Da' Lucky Stikk, BP) <- Warlord

9 Boyz + Nob (BC) in a Trukk (RR) <- Warboss goes here
10 Boyz + Nob (BC) in a Trukk (RR) <- Painboy goes here

2 Lootas + 3 Meks

Dread Mob:
Big Mek (EA, Killsaw, BP)
Painboy (BP)

Deff Dread (PK, Skorcha) <- I expect these guys to get ignored until they start kicking ass.
Deff Dread (PK, Skorcha)
Deff Dread (PK, Skorcha)

3 Kans (Rokkits)
3 Kans (Rokkits)
3 Kans (KMB)

Gorkanaunt <- Lootas, Meks, & Big Mek go here
Morkanaunt (KFF) <- I expect this guy to get the bulk of enemy anti-tank on turn 1

I'd suggest mobbing up the boyz into one big squad with Warboss, Painboy, and Mekaniak Mek (to eat challenge for Warboss) in BW. I'd also suggest giving that one Kan unit zookas instead of KMBs so they can wreck some infantry. The Fixer Upperz will probably be more effective than a kill saw on your mek. Make sure to group your vehicles around your Morkanaught for his sweet KFF save and consider grot riggers for the Gorkanaught and Morkanaught

For the guy who leaves it all on the field (because he doesn't pick up after the game).

My current 1850 uses the Dread Mob formation with only a Biker Boss, 2x 10 Gretchin, and 3 Rokkit Koptas in the CAD. The Boss has powerklaw and lukky stikk. The Big Mek is on a bike with Big Boss Pole and Killsaw, and, as you guessed it, the painboy is on a bike. It makes a fast unit that can take out some threats while everything advances.

My actual formation has 2 KFF Morkanauts, 2x 3 Rokkit Kanz, 1x 3 Zooka Kanz, 2x Double Skorcha Dreads, 1x All combat Dread. It worked better than I thought. Gretchin were held in reserve to claim objectives on my edge.

Quite frankly the Dreadmob fixes the issue with our walkers - we cant field enough for what they do. Killakans technically are viable without the rest, but if you dont have heavier armor they die easier than unarmored grots lol.

My only issue with it is it is ungodly expensive lol. im amazed you found a list you feel confident with at 1850pts using the dreadmob formation, i struggle to make a 2k one lol.

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.

14000pts Big 'n Bad Orkz
6000pts Admech/Knights
7500pts Necron Goldboys

Do you think 2 KFFs are worth it? Have you considered dropping both for a mega KFF on the biker mek?

You kinda need two KFFs, though i usually find myself taking a Gorkanaut and leaving the 2nd KFF duty to the mek with the MFF anyway. This footprint is way too large for a single 6" bubble to affect unless you want stuff in the back and probably getting to the fight a full turn late.

Way im seeing it, MFF on bike protects as man kanz and dredds as it can while the Mork protects the rest and the Gork. Gorks have 13 armor so im more worried about losing the little guys before the big guys, even against lascannon fire. Even at S7 or kanz can cause some severe damage if they reach the opponents at max numbers. I would imagine the kanz will die first, dredds second, nauts last - so 4++ goes on the kanz/dredds lol.

Heres my question: supporting CAD.

I play 2000pts and ive come down to which do i want... a SAG plus grot bubble (taking the grots anyway for troop requirements so its not an increase in cost) or two 3gun Lobba batteries. Obviously the Lobbas will cause more wounds on average, and be more resilient, but the SAG will pretty much kill whatever it hits even with bad strength due to AP2. Plus, its a SAG i mean cmon why not lol. Unless i face a green tide i find it highly unlikely i'll face enough numbers that the dreadmob wont deal with.

I've thought about having the MFF, but I like the bubble on the Morkanauts. I feel that not relying on the bikers for force field allows them to turboboost around where needed.

Only thing I'm worried about are heavy flyer lists. I think they will give the Dread Mob list most trouble.
