Subject: For freedom an' krumpin'! Redesigning codex: Orks
As much as there is variation between different unit types, there tends to be very little within a single unit type. This is very much in contradiction of the orky way which has no set design for anything.
Also, getting some use out of cybork bodies would be nice.
So, without further ado, on to the rules:
Army Special Rules
Spoiler:
Disturbing Experimenters: A model with this special rules gets an invulnerable save based off of how many items from the cybork bitz list it has:
0.......-

2......5+
3......4+
(All models have this special rule)

1 Models without the independent character special rule may only take one.
2 May only be taken by models with the independent character special rule, or models in units of Nobz, in which case the entire unit has to take warbikes. May not be taken by models in mega armour.
Attack squig: A model with an attack squig may reduce the attacks characteristic of a model they are in base contact with by 1, to a minimum of 1.
Cybork leg: A model equipped with a cybork leg has the slow and purposeful special rule.
Gitfinda: A model equipped with a gitfinda gets +1 BS on a turn in which it hasn't moved. A model with the slow and purposeful or relentless special rules always benefits from the +1 BS from a gitfinda.
Squig brain: A model equipped with a squig brain has the rage and rampage special rules. A squig brain doesn't count towards the disturbing experimenters special rule.
Cybork body: A cybork body counts as two items from the cybork bitz list for the purposes of the disturbing experimenters special rule.
Cybork arm: A model equipped with a cybork arm gets +1 Strength.
Cybork skull: A model equipped with a cybork skull has the eternal warrior special rule.

Any Feel No Pain would be rendered useless by the Feel No Pain conferred by Painboys.
I think it would be appropriate for the Squig brain to reduce BS and/or Ld
I wouldn't have thought that squigs would have any worse Ld than orks, and orks are innaccurate enough anyway!

Squig-Payloads as a Bomma upgrade would be great, like in Deff Skwadron.
Otherwise, the only real *well that's dirty* ability I can think of would be the Bionik Legs to grant Slow and Purposeful; because it's a rule that gets conferred onto the *entire* unit and all. But Orks are BS 2 anyway so it's not *too* dramatic a shift...perhaps.

I'm not sure if this is what you are thinking of, but I thought of having large cages full of squigs strapped to the bottom of Bommas, which could be burst open, scattering squigs all over anything below.

Lootas or Mek Gunz would be the only things it could cause problems with, but I see what you mean.
Added Squig Herds.

Oh yep, sorry for that - it's for a sniper thread. Ignore the above - will delete.
Automatically Appended Next Post: BTW, i love the dakkagun option!
Rendng choppa for 1 pt is too cheap, really. It should be 5 pts with the big choppa. Not less - for sure. Cause 4-5 rending attacks on the charge...well, you know - that's too low for 1 pt. And in the case when you can have hidden rending choppas maybe even 5 is too low. Just think about it. If previously only nob was that frightening for many tough targets - they will just get erazed by a bunch of 7 pt boyz like no big deal.
And Kustom mega slugga - why 8 pts while kustom mega blasta is 5?

I want to keep it fairly cheap, seeing as it is going onto boyz mobs, so how about re-rolling to wound rolls of 1 instead?
Should the big choppa get re-rolls as well, and if so, should it get a price increase?
And Kustom mega slugga - why 8 pts while kustom mega blasta is 5?
I'm not entirely sure. In the codex they are 10 pts, and pistols in general cost more than other weapons with similar power.
Probably due to the extra attack in close combat.

Just give a chain choppa shred for 2 pts. Will allready be enough for a hidden weapon. Won't be super-useful but a couple for leftover points are fine.
I feel that Big choppas are underwhelming, in all fairness. I'd love to see them getting rending instead of ap5 but they should probably cost more than 5 in this case cause otherwise it'd be a no-brainer. Maybe 8. Will be a nice alternative to a power klaw in a truck rush or for footslogging small squads you might get when you have 80-90 pt to spare.
Cybernetic reconstruction gives the Iron Hands Feel NoPain (6+) so perhaps the Cyborks could get that. 6+ for 1-2 items and at 5+ if 3 or more.

Cybork Body in the current Dex is a 6+ FNP, which is why it is no longer taken by anyone ever. :( Why spend 5 points for a 6+ FNP when you're just going to put the Warboss with a 50 point Painboy who gives the ENTIRE unit a 5+ FNP? :p

The thing I dislike is giving S&P to your Warboss would just bog down the entire blob he is with. I'm not sure it would be worth adding on to give him an Invul. That causes my entire blob to be unable to run, and I'm pretty sure they can't sweep advance as well. (Unless I'm confusing S&P with something else in regards to Sweep Advances)

S&P does prevent sweeping advances. They would mainly be used on Flash Gits for a permanent BS 3 or a SAG mek.
