You may have noticed a whole host of new Imperial Fists upgrade kits we’ve released recently. It looks like we’re not done with the VIIth Legion just yet – I caught sight of this awesome Command set a few days ago being worked on in the Forge World Studio.

I'm glad they posted that closeup - I had no idea there was fine scroll work on the armor. It looks great, and I can't wait to see what they do next for Legions I'm actually interested in buying miniatures for!

They were practicing doing fine Curlrys on the armor to make sure they can give all the Alpha Legion guys appropriate mustaches , still working on babies stapled to foreheads though.

I really hope that helmet's a separate bit so I can get hold of it on its own.
Still find it interesting that the Fists are currently the only Legion whose models bear the Raptor iconography.

The helmet will be separate for sure ... and the eagle head plus the lightning symbolizes participation in the unification wars, but I am not 100% sure.

The Palatine Blades and Kakophoni kits both have the heads cast as part of the body, so it isn't guaranteed. That said, it looks like the head is separate in this case.

Think it's due to them having a higher than normal tie to Terra than the other legions also has something to do with them being quite a 'plain' legion compared to the other loyalist legions covered so it helps to add a bit more detail to the models.

Over on Bolter and Chainsword we seem to be reaching a consensus that it might be Sigismund, he looks a lot like Siggy on the cover of the Templar audio drama, his sword is chained to him, something Sigismund picked up from the World Eaters. I don't get why they wouldn't shout about it more if it is Sigismund, maybe it's a dual purpose kit, Sigismund and command squad type thing. I was very dubious at first but who knows.

Ah no, my bad, the Kakophoni have their heads attached, it's the torso/legs which are one piece with the Blades.

At first I thought so too, but that would be a little underwhelming (at least IMO and in comparison to the Pollux model). Also I do not think that the writer of the Bulletin would make such a mistake - he talks about a command unit, so I guess a banner guy will be there too.

That's exactly what I thought too, but he really does look a lot like the Templar cover. I really don't know. I just don't feel like they've left themselves much room for Sigismund if he's going to look like the art for him.
I was underwhelmed at first too but he's grown on me. I don't mind either way, I don't do Imperial Fists and he's a cool model, whoever he is.

Could be Sigismund I guess, though I'm sure he wasn't the only one to chain weapons to himself in the Imperial Fist legion.

Come on, We know that major characters never wear a helmet (coz plot armour is far safer) so while this might do as a 'counts as' Sigismund (or even have been inspired by the cover) it's not going to be released an official one

I will try my first IF in the next few weeks, although I am afraid of painting with yellow. About the model - the armor looks very sophisticated, but looking at the Templar Brethren Upgrade set I guess Sigismund will have much more Templar icons on him than just a chain around the neck. I am also pretty sure Sigi will get a cloak ...

He was, or at least the first. He picked it up from fighting in the arenas on the World Eaters ship, it's a World Eaters tradition he picked up. I wonder if all those Black Templars are aware they're using WE traditions...
I'm not saying it is him, just that it's close enough to the art that it could be. And in terms of helmets, Kharn and Typhon both come with helmets from FW.

Yep, that's what the icon represents, but so far the only Legion models that have it sculpted on are IF ones. It's on the Contemptor, one of the upgrade torsos, one of the Phalanx Warder torsos and one of the Teplar Brethren Torsos.

Fully aware that I'm ignorant of Forgeworld's HH books and the BL series I'd have thought it's the latter rather than the former. What gives them a stronger tie to Terra than others? It's supposed to be a Unification Wars vet. symbol, but didn't most of the legions take part in those?

Most of the legions were in the Unification wars (well, all), but I think the Imperial Fists just were more... Badass? During it? I definitely know there's a lot of talk about them being very prolific during the Unification, but I haven't read it properly yet. I think it's a mix of the 2, that they were prolific during the unification, and it's just an easy way to make IF look more decorated.
Also I think different legions used different representation for Unification veterans, the Raven Guard in Extermination have a little raven skull sigil for their unification veterans.

Another factor might be that the Imperial Fists recruited from all across Terra in the inception and have always had the ability to recruit from Terra so the Unification Wars hold more significance to them compared to other chapters wherein Terran born Marines were a minority that died out.

But nothing says this is an Emperors Champion, apart from the fact he looks a bit like one. But that doesn't really mean anything considering he just looks Templar like.

How about, "Predicated on the assumption that this is an Imperial Fists Emperor's Champion, this would have to be Sigismund"? Either way, I think I just found Pedro Kantor's Chapter Champion for my Crimson Fists.

So basically you're saying 'if it's Sigismund, it has to be Sigismund'? If it is an Emperors Champion, yeah it's him. But we don't know if it is an Emperors Champion, so it only might be him.
