Targets, and is shooting, so no. Units in assault cannot be targeted.

this is incorrect as per the RAW.

Nova
A nova power automatically targets and hits all enemy units (including Flyers and Flying Monstrous Creatures) within the psychic power’s maximum range, regardless of line of sight, being locked in combat, intervening models/ terrain and so on.

The answer as Quanar pointed out is, yes.

units locked in combat are hit.

Indeed, missed that when reading - due to the key exception not being bold I reckon.

Can you use nova powers in combat? It says witchfire powers cannot be. Does that apply to cleansing flame as well.

Is a Nova a sub-type of witchfire?

Can Withcfires be used while in combat?

Novas are a witchfire sub class... which is why i do not think they can be casted while locked in combat.

if they are witchfires you cannot cast them while locked, but you can cast them and affect locked models if the caster is not locked.

You are correct.

P.S. cast, not casted
