Not horribly familiar with Tyranids, so doing some experimenting with lists. I keep hearing the "There's only 7 'competitive' 'Nid units, but frankly I'm not too sure exactly which ones these are. (I've at least got some general idea, though...) This is the first experiment list, with more possibly in the wood works as research continues. Looking for feedback from some more experienced 'Nid players.

Looks pretty good. But you likely have too many upgrades on your Rippers. The Tyrgon Prime is a good Big Bug, but it is not currently considered a good use of points (it costs near the same as a Tyrant ) I suggest something else, that costs less. My personal favorite is a Tyranofex, with Thorax Hive (Electro-bugs) and Adrenal Glands (200) You could also do with some Shrouding. The current "hot" model is Malanthrope. Venosthropes are very good as well. I would split out the Zoeys into two Broods, to get more Wcs, and an extra set of Powers of the Hive Mind!. That plus either a Malanthrope, or a pair of Venos should give you a better build.
My experience has been that a Living Artillery Needs a Veno babysitter to survive, but that is dependant on your local "Meta". If you find this, you might want to drop the "solo" Zoey, and add an additional Venothrope.
Good luck! And welcome to the Hive Mind!

Not bad, not bad at all. I think you'll find 2 Carnifexes in a brood of 2 with Twin Linked Devourers w/ Brainleech Worms a good investment (ideally two units of two or one unit of three if you can find the points, I'd start by replacing the Trygon Prime for the reason pinecone said).
I'd also split those Zoanthropes up for more Warp Charges, maybe replace one with either a Venomthrope or Malanthrope.

Looks "better". If you have all that you can give it a few test games to work out the 'kinks". If you have not purchased it all. Then grab it in small chunks, and run games at lower points as you go...that way you can find your personal "style".

No idea what you're trying to say... Anything to add that is useful?

This makes me sad. Someone recommended the generic Dakkafexes and you give in man, you gave in! I personally have used a 300+ point Trygon Prime on many occasions, and it's only died maybe, twice? Which was after, of course, it wiped out a huge chunk of the opponents army. In fact, wiped out the last half squad of Boyz, a Big Mek and lootas, and a whole squad of Meganobz with a Warboss. In a single game. People underestimate him.
It also pains me to only ever see people fielding 2 Dakka Flyrants. Like, always.
My Tyranid Prime has slain Warbosses and Chaos Lords, both on bikes. While doing what Tyranids do best, buffing another unit.

Primes don't buff other units. It just provides a near mandatory support function. That makes it a bit over priced for what it does with the lose of joining MC's.

Trygon Primes can be nasty. I wouldn't give it the miasma cannon, though, if only because it could have a dessicator larvae thorax swarm for the same price.
If I had to pick a bio-artefact, I'd say the Reaper of Obliterax is a good one. "Normal" trygons are stuck with scything talons, so having access to a lashwhip is cool anyway, quite aside from the +1S/Shred/Lifedrain combo.
Plus, you know, Shiva-Worm.

I personally see the Maw-Claws of Thyrax as a mandatory upgrade for a Trygon Prime. As soon as it kills something in melee, it gains Preferred Enemy? That applies to it's melee (Hitting most things on 3's, rerolling 1s. Wounding most things on 2s, rerolling 1s), and of course it's shooting then gets better as well. And the upgrade is only 10 points. And, add the Reaper of Obliterax if you want, which makes it even more killy. And the Yrmgarl Factor if you're spending that many points. And Regen, if you want it to not die ever. Automatically Appended Next Post: barnowl wrote: krodarklorr wrote:This makes me sad. Why would you join it with an MC anyway? WS6, BS4 Warriors are pretty awesome. And if the unit ever gets into combat, it can do a good bit of damage. Or, as my friend has said, if you want lols, put him in a big unit of Gaunts. They also have Synapse, and you have to kill all of them to get to him. >.<

I like the list but Im scared that the lone venom will end up being an easy first blood and then you re out of cover saves.
I would definately remove a zoan for a second venom.
