Here at Tabletop Workshop, we have just announced that the tremendous 28mm Basic Castle Set is now available to pre-order. This huge set includes 12 individual Castle kits, which consist of all the parts required to make a Square Castle.
If a Square Castle isn't your thing, don't worry! As the Tower Wall Connector Sets can be placed into the Tower at different angles, gamers can design a totally different shape of fortification. Furthermore, as the the kits are fully modular, you can create longer, taller or even smaller Castle Walls and Towers. The full Basic Castle Set consists of:
4 x Round Fortified Towers
3 x Standard Castle Walls
1 x Castle Wall Gate
4 x Tower Wall Connector Sets
Just a quick heads up to anyone who pre-ordered, all Basic Castle Sets will be dispatched in the coming weeks. Don't worry. We'll keep you updated of progress on our Social Media Sites, our Website and our Mailing List as usual.
This month, we're also offering four brand new bundles to offer you more of our scenery for smaller prices. These include the new 28mm Settlement, which offers the full set of our Medieval Range for just £75! For more information on these exclusive sets, head over to http://www.tabletopworkshop.co.uk/
Seem to remember a few people were interested in picking up all of our buildings at once so we got our heads together and made an offer which should appeal.
We're delighted with the Castle!

Castle and buildings look nice, but they just don't have any character. I am sure that any sort of interesting detail would have the historical players in hysterics, but they all seem very bland, and fairly expensive.

So they're perfect for adding your own details to! I'd rather have no skulls and be able to add them, than walls full of skulls and a lot of work to remove them.

GW kits have lots of interesting non skull stuff. Like vines growing up the walls or little posts with lanterns, random barrels, non perfect shingles, ravens or other birds, pots, bookcases, uneven building stones, etc.

The fact that the Castle's plastic is it's biggest asset; you can move figures inside, it's easy to take apart, store, transport and paint.
Gallahad, this is the first Basic Modular Castle Set which includes the following kits:
3 x Fortified Walls
4 x Fortified Round Towers
1 x Fortified Castle Wall Gate
4 x Tower Wall Connector Pieces
All of the Standard Castle Walls are the same kit. So say we'd have added vines to the Wall then this would've been reflected on every one of them. Following on from this, every Castle would have the exact same vine on each of the Walls and we didn't think this would look right. However, we do understand where you're coming from though and this is why over time, our aim is to produce more individual kits such as ruined walls or single tower with vines. More so, as the Castle is fully modular, you can simply substitute these new parts into the Castle for the old parts.
We want to get across that when you buy one of our modular Castles, you are buying an ever expandable system which you can make bigger, smaller, taller, shorter and even modify completely over time. It's not a conventional piece of terrain that sits in the corner doing the same job over and over!

I think they've done it deliberately so you can play around with it and make it how YOU want it to look and not someone else's idea of how it should look.
Do not kill. Do not rape. Do not steal. These are principles which every man of every faith can embrace.
For if you do, one day you will look behind you and you will see us And on that day, you will reap it,
and we will send you to whatever god you wish.

That's the idea! And as each Castle Kit is fully Modular and can be glued into levels to be big, small, short and tall, gamers have the freedom to make fortifications that they want!

I think the only non-skull terrain piece is the Dreadstone Blight, and that is of course now out of print. The rest of the plastic terrain looks like playsets from Masters of the Universe.
But I can't forget the Warhammer Fortress (and accompanying Siege Tower), which is still the best piece of terrain GW has ever made (alone with the now-discontinued Modular Hill), and still quite a good price.
Tabletop Workshop's castle looks to be at least as good looking, if not engineered better, than GW's Fortress. Plus, different style.

You're right about the different styles judgedoug. One or two gamers have said they want to have more skulls but at this stage with our first set, we thought it was important to be historically accurate as well as creating a fantastic looking piece of kit, which I think we've achieved! Plus, we will more than likely look at making specialist fantasy fiction pieces in the near future, so you can replace the standard pieces with these. Ruined walls, Castle Parapets, Vine walls and maybe even Skulls.
Engineering wise, we feel it's the best out there; fully modular, you can move figures inside during battle, the Towers and Walls are connected by pieces instead of single parts just being positioned next to each other. You can even change the angle between the walls by changing the position of the Connector Pieces in the Tower. Make a taller Castle by adding more levels onto the Tower or Wall or by adding more Towers and Walls! The possibilities are endless!
Soon, we'll be making a video to show off the Castle where you can get a feel for all of these features. I'll make sure it gets posted on here when it's up!
