I listen to a huge range, including rock, prog, metal, country, blues, classical and a little folk. At the moment I'm in a phase of listening to new-wave blues music.

Nothing at all Although Kid Rock and The Pretty Reckless, while both decent-ish, are an odd combo! I've not heard of the other band, though.
I too sometimes have phases of listening to stuff I really wouldn't like on most occasions. I'm no real fan of punk, for example, but sometimes there's nothing like a bit of Green Day played very loud!

QFT. I spent most of my teenage years with the "If it's not metal, it's not worth my time" mentality, and I'm glad I grew out of it.
As for me, I mostly listen to various types of punk, ska, and rockabilly, but I also listen to metal (rock included with metal), alternative (mostly 90's, but some newer stuff is pretty decent), electronic, and indie hip-hop, and jazz if I'm feeling swanky. I typically loathe country, but some of the older stuff isn't terrible. Same goes for pop music - I like some, but most I don't bother with. And then there's the different genres/types of metal and punk that I like more than others......but I don't want to get into that

Metal(ish): Korn, Headstones, Disturbed, System of a Down, NIN, Fear Factory, Queens of the Stone Age (and of course all the classics: Iron Maiden, Ozzy, Alice...)
Jazz, Soul, Funk, Blues, classic, House, rock, DnB, various OST and remixes. Though I admit that I mostly listen to various mixes or compilations on you-tube or through radio tunes. Smooth Jazz, Dave Koz or Bossa Nova being my favourites up there.

For awhile I was in the Metallica/metal-only crowd, but I've always liked other stuff. It's been broadening a lot lately. Like Queen more often than not. Like with a lot of things, I definitely agree with the "what sounds good to me" sentiment. I like metal but only certain bands and sometimes only certain albums from certain bands. Usually slightly more esoteric stuff too, but not full-on never-heard-of-it-unless-you're-a-diehard-fan-already stuff generally.
Stuff like Nightwish, Epica, Within Temptation, Kamelot (saw the new dude live, a worthy successor to Roy), other stuff like Scar Symmetry, Celldweller, and so on. Really just depends.
Sometimes I have to load up something grindy like Bolt Thrower Usually, I'm on a semi-permanent speed kick, so I prefer fast tracks that hit hard, whether I'm in the mood for something with a symphony, growls, both (yay Epica!), or whatever theme. Some growling is cool, some growling makes me want to retch.
Lately I've been having a lot of fun with the various techno/dance/dubstep/nightcore/what have you kinda stuff.
Occasionally I look for something weird like Alestorm's Pirate metal, or the a cappella metal of Van Canto.
Generally I'm hella-burnt-out on a lot of the 70s-90s rock, still can't quite stomach country, though I've been much more receptive (at least to certain songs) to pop lately.
Oh and videogame music. Whether oldschool midis, newer soundtracks, or kick-ass bands like the Black Mages

There's very little that I don't outright dislike....
With the exception of 2 or 3 groups, I really dislike rap/hip-hop (a buddy of mine posted a video to FB of a 5 year old creating a rap song... basically showing how easy it really is)
I don't particularly like pop, though things like Eurythmics certainly fell into that category when they were prominent, and I like Eurythmics
Ultimately, what I listen to at any given time, is wholly dependent on my mood. For the past 3 or 4 months, it's been almost nothing but metal. an XM subscription will kind of have you stuck on a station for a while though
I do enjoy some dubstep, trance, DnB, etc. however, I cant really get into it on the radio, due to the majority of the time, they don't play anything that flows into another song, and that was one of the things that I liked, especially with trance (how most trance/house albums listen similarly to a Pink Floyd album)
Overall though, my absolute favorite genre of music would have to be metal, it really is the one thing that I consistently "fall back" on.
For the most part punk/hardcore. Although I find myself listening to more and more like pop music you hear from tv shows and commercials. Like I'll listen to a song on a commercial I like and download it to listen. I also have a soft spot for backpack hiphop like Sage Francis and immortal technique and the like.
Punk, rock, metal, alternative, new wave (the first five are technically all just different variations of rock music), folk, reggae, hip hop, experimental, ambient, pop, soul, blues, jazz, funk, electronic, but mostly just some variation of rock.
